Position Overview
As a Team Leader for Bakery Plant Production at Almarai in Jeddah, you will be the operational leader on the production floor during your assigned shift — organising the team, executing production plans on schedule, enforcing quality and food safety standards, maintaining budgetary discipline, and directly supervising bakery plant operators running automated bread and pastry production lines. Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Shift Leadership
- Organise and lead the assigned production shift, ensuring all bakery plant activities are executed in strict alignment with the agreed production plan, time schedules, and daily output targets.
- Coordinate pre-shift preparation activities — including raw material readiness, equipment checks, team briefings, and work order distribution — to ensure a smooth, on-time production start every shift.
- Monitor production progress throughout the shift, proactively identifying and addressing any deviations from schedule, quality specifications, or safety requirements before they escalate into production stoppages.
Operator Supervision & Team Management
- Directly supervise and guide bakery plant operators, ensuring all team members work efficiently within defined safety standards, quality protocols, and operational procedures throughout every shift.
- Allocate tasks effectively across the shift team, balancing workloads to optimise individual and collective production performance on automated bread and pastry production lines.
- Coach, mentor, and develop operators through on-the-job guidance — building team capability, reinforcing standard operating procedures, and supporting continuous improvement in line performance.
Quality Standards & Food Safety Compliance
- Enforce defined quality standards consistently across all production activities, ensuring every batch of bread and pastry products leaving the line meets Almarai’s exacting product specifications and “Quality you can trust” brand promise.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all relevant HACCP control measures applicable to automated bakery plant operations.
- Identify, document, and escalate any quality non-conformances or food safety deviations promptly, supporting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Budgetary Control & Operational Efficiency
- Monitor and manage shift-level expenditures and resource utilisation — including raw materials, packaging, and labour — to ensure production activities remain within approved budgetary parameters.
- Drive waste reduction initiatives on the bakery production line, identifying opportunities to minimise raw material waste, reduce rework, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) on automated plant machinery.
- Report shift performance KPIs — including output volumes, quality metrics, waste levels, and downtime — accurately and on time to the Production Manager for operational review and continuous improvement planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Bakery Technology, Food Technology, Food Science, or a closely related discipline — this is a mandatory educational requirement for all shortlisted candidates.
- Additional professional certifications in food safety, GMP, HACCP, or bakery production management are a valuable advantage for candidates applying to this senior production role.
Experience Requirements
