Role Overview: Technical and Food Label Reviewer
The Technical and Food Label Reviewer plays a critical role in ensuring that food product labels comply with national and international food regulations. This includes reviewing artwork, verifying nutrition panels, checking allergen declarations, validating ingredient statements, and assessing regulatory claims.
You will work closely with food safety teams, laboratory experts, regulatory specialists, and clients to deliver accurate and timely compliance reviews.
This is a technical position requiring deep knowledge of:
- Food labeling regulations
- Nutrition facts panel compliance
- Allergen labeling laws
- Country of origin declarations
- Health and nutrient content claims
- GMO and organic labeling requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Label Compliance Review
- Conduct detailed regulatory assessments of food packaging and label artwork
- Verify allergen statements and nutrition labeling accuracy
- Review ingredient lists according to regulatory sequence rules
- Ensure compliance with GCC, FDA, EU, and Codex Alimentarius standards
- Assess bilingual labeling requirements (Arabic & English)
- Evaluate net weight declarations and identity statements
2. Claims & Regulatory Evaluation
- Review health claims and nutrient content claims
- Assess organic labeling and GMO declarations
- Validate method-of-production claims
- Confirm regulatory alignment for dietary supplements and specialty foods
3. Technical Advisory & Client Support
- Provide regulatory guidance to food manufacturers and importers
- Support clients in achieving market approval for UAE and GCC
- Communicate corrective actions and compliance gaps clearly
- Assist with label redesign to meet legal requirements
4. Documentation & Compliance Reporting
- Prepare professional compliance review reports
- Maintain regulatory databases and documentation
- Use compliance intelligence platforms such as DIGICOMPLY
- Monitor regulatory updates affecting food labeling laws
Qualifications Required
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Food Science
- Nutrition
- Food Technology
- Chemical Engineering
- Related scientific discipline
Experience
- 2–5 years in food labeling, regulatory affairs, or food safety quality assurance
- Experience in food manufacturing or inspection is advantageous
- Background in packaging technology or label artwork review preferred
Technical Competencies
