Position Overview
The Water Quality Chemist based in Ajman, UAE is responsible for collecting water samples and performing chemical analysis across the entire water treatment process — from seawater intake through filtration, chemical dosing, Reverse Osmosis treatment, and through to final treated water storage. This hands-on technical role covers water quality parameter monitoring, chemical dosing optimisation, chemical inventory management, laboratory equipment maintenance, water quality and chemical consumption report preparation, KPI monitoring, laboratory procedure review, and full compliance with HSE, quality, and environmental standards applicable to water treatment operations. RO plant experience is strongly preferred for this role.

Key Responsibilities
Water Sampling & Chemical Analysis
- Collect water samples at defined points across the full treatment process — from seawater intake through all treatment stages to treated water storage — and perform comprehensive chemical analysis
- Monitor water quality parameters continuously to ensure ongoing compliance with operational requirements and applicable regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all water quality analysis results, test findings, and parameter trends — ensuring data integrity and audit readiness at all times
- Review and continuously improve laboratory procedures and operational processes to enhance analytical accuracy, efficiency, and compliance within the water treatment facility
Chemical Dosing Optimisation & Inventory Management
- Monitor and optimise chemical dosing across the water treatment process — ensuring chemicals are dosed accurately and efficiently to achieve target water quality parameters at all treatment stages
- Manage chemical inventory effectively — maintaining adequate stock levels of all treatment chemicals required for continuous, uninterrupted RO plant operations
- Prepare chemical consumption reports and track usage trends — identifying optimisation opportunities that reduce chemical costs without compromising water quality or regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with procurement and operations teams to ensure timely replenishment of chemical stocks and avoidance of operational disruptions due to chemical shortages
Laboratory Operations, Equipment & Reporting
- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing instruments, and analytical tools in full working order — conducting regular calibration and maintenance checks in accordance with laboratory standards
- Prepare accurate laboratory reports, water quality records, and chemical consumption reports for management, regulatory, and operational review
- Support operational planning by monitoring key performance indicators related to water quality, chemical efficiency, and treatment plant performance
- Maintain all analytical records, laboratory documentation, and water quality data in an organised, accessible, and fully compliant format
HSE Compliance & Team Support
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable HSE, quality, environmental, and laboratory standards related to water treatment operations in the UAE
- Follow all chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures safely — maintaining a compliant and hazard-free laboratory and operational environment at all times
- Support team development activities and contribute to the training and knowledge-sharing of water quality and laboratory best practices within the facility
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager — maintaining flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting operational and quality objectives across the facility
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a directly related scientific or engineering field
Experience Requirements
- Relevant experience in water treatment, desalination, laboratory chemical analysis, or water operations in the UAE or GCC region
- Experience with Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants is strongly preferred — and will be considered a significant advantage for this role
Essential Skills
- Solid knowledge of water treatment processes, water distribution systems, and chemical dosing optimisation techniques applicable to RO and desalination plant operations
