Position Summary
The Product Development Specialist will create, test, and refine innovative food products across Spinneys’ retail ranges, fresh counters, and Spinneys Kitchen Café. This is an opportunity for a chef passionate about food innovation, ingredients, and culinary trends to help shape the future of Spinneys’ food offering and support development of new products from concept through to launch.
Working within Spinneys’ New Product Development (NPD) team, you will translate culinary creativity into commercially viable own-label products that delight customers while maintaining Spinneys’ premium quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
As Product Development Specialist at Spinneys Dubai, your responsibilities include:
Recipe Development & Testing
- Develop, test, and refine recipes for retail products, fresh counters, and café offerings
- Create innovative product concepts aligned with category strategies and customer demand
- Ensure recipes can be scaled for retail or production environments while maintaining quality and consistency
- Conduct product trials and tastings to ensure quality, consistency, and commercial viability
New Product Development (NPD)
- Support development of new food products from initial concept through to product launch
- Manage product development including trials, tastings, and refinements
- Translate culinary ideas into commercially viable products
- Maintain clear recipe documentation and product specifications to support production
Market Intelligence & Trends
- Monitor and analyze food trends, ingredients, and lifestyle changes to identify product development opportunities
- Benchmark Spinneys products against competitor offerings and industry standards to maintain leading market position
- Stay current on emerging food trends and culinary techniques
- Apply trend knowledge to create innovative, market-relevant products
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Category Managers and Commercial teams to ensure products align with product strategies and range tiering
- Collaborate with internal production teams, factories, and suppliers to deliver successful product launches
- Partner with cross-functional teams throughout product development process
Implementation & Training Support
- Assist with implementation and training, ensuring teams are properly guided on preparation methods and standards
- Provide technical support to production and retail teams
- Transfer knowledge effectively to ensure consistent product execution
Food Safety & Quality Compliance
- Strong awareness and understanding of food safety and quality standards in UAE
- Ensure all recipes, preparation methods, and handling practices comply with local regulations and company policies
- Maintain highest food safety standards throughout development process
Required Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this product development specialist position must possess:
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts
- OR Diploma or Degree in Food Science
- OR Diploma or Degree in related field
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in product development within retail, food manufacturing, or hospitality
- Experience developing recipes that can be scaled for production or retail environments while maintaining quality and consistency
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of food ingredients, culinary techniques, and emerging food trends
- Ability to translate culinary ideas into commercially viable products
