 Position Overview

This Food Safety Coordinator role is a comprehensive, multi-functional food safety position within a UAE food manufacturing operation covering both Dubai and Abu Dhabi sites. You will be the day-to-day operational coordinator of the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System — maintaining documentation, scheduling and conducting internal audits, delivering GMP and food safety training, managing CAPA processes, and supporting management review with KPI data and trend analysis.

This role requires a technically strong food safety professional who is equally comfortable in the audit room, on the production floor, and in a training session — someone who can build food safety culture from the bottom up while maintaining the rigorous compliance standards required for FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and BRCGS certification. With 3 years of relevant experience and a degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or a food-related discipline, you will have the foundation to make an immediate impact.

Why This Role Matters: The Food Safety Coordinator is the operational core of a food manufacturing company’s safety and compliance system — the professional who ensures the FSMS is not just a document on a shelf, but a living, effective system embedded in every process, every person, and every production decision. In a UAE food manufacturing environment held to FSSC 22000 and BRCGS standards, this role protects consumer safety, supports certification integrity, and drives the continuous improvement culture that separates good food companies from truly great ones.

Key Responsibilities in Detail

Regulatory & FSMS Compliance

  • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000 + PRPs + additional FSSC requirements) across Dubai and Abu Dhabi sites.
  • Maintain document control for all FSMS procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and retention systems — ensuring all documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Support management of change processes — ensuring all food safety impacts are assessed and documented for any changes in process, equipment, materials, facility layout, or suppliers.
  • Prepare inputs for food safety team meetings and compile management review data — including KPIs, issues, non-conformity trends, and audit findings for senior management presentations.

Training & Food Safety Culture

  • Provide comprehensive Food Safety & GMP induction training to all new employees, visitors, and contractors — ensuring everyone entering the production environment understands food safety requirements before beginning work.
  • Deliver ongoing internal Food Safety & GMP training to food handlers — assessing training effectiveness through competency checks and updating the training matrix accordingly.
  • Maintain complete and current training records, training matrix, and competency checks for all employees, contractors, and visitors — ensuring 100% schedule completion and clear audit trail.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen food safety culture on the shop floor — driving engagement, ownership, and food safety awareness at every level of the production operation.

Internal Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate the internal audit program aligned to FSSC 22000 — scheduling audits, conducting assigned audits, and tracking all corrective actions to verified closure within agreed timelines.
  • Support certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections — leading preparation activities, gathering evidence, participating in closing meetings, and managing post-audit follow-up actions.
  • Lead and participate in investigations for food safety non-conformities — conducting root cause analysis, implementing CAPA, and verifying effectiveness of corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage foreign body control programs — including sieves/filters, magnets, metal detector/X-ray equipment checks, and glass & brittle plastic program inspections across all production areas.

 Desired Candidate Profile

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related food-related discipline — required for this role
  • Professional food safety certifications — FSSC 22000 lead implementer, ISO 22000 internal auditor, HACCP, or BRCGS equivalent — are strongly valued during candidate selection

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of total experience in a food safety or quality assurance role within a food manufacturing environment — required
  • Demonstrated experience working at an ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or BRCGS-certified food manufacturing site — direct, hands-on FSMS experience is essential
  • Proven track record in internal food safety auditing, CAPA management, and food safety training delivery across diverse production workforces

Technical Skills & Languages

  • Strong technical knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems — HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and associated prerequisite programs
  • Proficiency in document control, KPI tracking, management review data compilation, and food safety reporting
  • Experience with foreign body control programs — metal detection, X-ray, magnets, sieves, and glass/brittle plastic management
  • English fluency — required; clear written and spoken communication for reporting, training delivery, and audit documentation
