Position Overview
This Manufacturing Improvement Manager role at Almarai’s Al Kharj site in Saudi Arabia is a senior full-time, on-site position placed at the intersection of operational excellence, quality improvement, and people development. You will take ownership of identifying and managing all manufacturing improvement initiatives triggered by operational efficiency reviews, customer complaint data, and non-compliance findings. Leveraging internationally recognized continuous improvement frameworks including Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and ISO standards, you will coach and train site teams and deploy structured improvement methodologies to deliver measurable results across Almarai’s SQCDSM performance framework. Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Improvement Initiation & Management
- Initiate, identify, manage, and follow up on all manufacturing improvements triggered through operational efficiency reviews and performance analysis
- Investigate and action improvements arising from customer complaints, product non-compliances, and operational performance gaps
- Ensure a consistently proactive approach to operations improvement — preventing problems before they impact product quality or delivery
- Develop structured improvement project plans with clear timelines, ownership, milestones, and measurable outcome targets
Continuous Improvement Methodology Deployment
- Select and deploy the most appropriate continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Industrial Engineering tools to deliver business results
- Apply SQCDSM — Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, and Morale — KPI frameworks to measure, track, and communicate improvement outcomes
- Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions across manufacturing processes
- Champion a culture of data-driven, evidence-based continuous improvement throughout the Al Kharj manufacturing site
Team Training & Coaching
- Train and coach site teams on continuous improvement tools, methodologies, and best practices relevant to food and dairy manufacturing
- Build internal CI capability by developing employees’ skills in Lean principles, Six Sigma techniques, and TPM practices
- Facilitate structured improvement workshops, kaizen events, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions at the site level
- Mentor team leaders and department managers to embed continuous improvement thinking into everyday operational decision-making
Quality, Compliance & Standards Management
- Ensure all manufacturing improvement activities are aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, and GMP requirements
- Monitor compliance with Almarai’s internal quality standards and international food safety regulatory frameworks
- Support audit preparation and compliance verification activities related to manufacturing processes and improvement programmes
- Maintain accurate documentation of all improvement initiatives, results, and lessons learned for management review and benchmarking
Operational Performance & Reporting
- Track and report manufacturing improvement performance against SQCDSM KPIs on a regular basis to senior management
- Identify operational efficiency opportunities across production lines and recommend prioritized improvement initiatives
- Provide clear, data-driven performance updates and improvement roadmaps to manufacturing leadership and cross-functional teams
- Benchmark Almarai’s manufacturing performance against industry best practices and implement relevant improvements
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Business Administration, Biotechnology, or Chemistry
- Professional certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), or TPM is a significant competitive advantage
Experience Requirements
- 7 to 8 years of experience in a similar manufacturing improvement or continuous improvement role within the food and/or dairy industry
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering measurable manufacturing improvement projects in FMCG environments
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, TPM, Lean, and Six Sigma in manufacturing settings
Essential Skills
- Strong familiarity with ISO 9001-2000, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and continuous improvement frameworks including TPM, Lean, and Six Sigma
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead structured root cause analysis in complex manufacturing environments
- Proven ability to train, coach, and influence cross-functional teams across multiple levels of a large manufacturing organization
