Under the direction of the Senior Crop Manager, this role is responsible for representing ofi across primary capsicum producing areas of the Southwest USA and global origins — covering contracting, planting, growing, harvesting, grower relations, competitor monitoring, and international sourcing support for capsicums and vegetables.

Position Overview
The Crop Supervisor at ofi Las Cruces, NM is a critical field-based role within the company’s agricultural supply chain. Reporting to the Senior Crop Manager, you will manage all activities related to capsicum crop contracting, planting supervision, growing season monitoring, and harvest management across the Southwest USA. You will develop competitive crop cost models, maintain grower relationships, monitor competitor activities, oversee crop culture programs, and support ofi’s international sourcing of capsicums and other vegetables through global travel. This is a demanding, high-impact agricultural career opportunity for a driven crop science or horticulture professional.

Key Responsibilities
Crop Cost Modeling & Grower Selection
- Develop competitive crop cost models for the Las Cruces and Southwest capsicum producing region to support procurement and production planning
- Select growers and fields for planting based on soil quality, yield history, location logistics, and grower capability assessments
- Distribute planting seed to contracted growers and supervise all planting activities to ensure timely and accurate field establishment
Crop Monitoring & Reporting
- Prepare detailed planting summaries, area maps, and individual field maps to support crop tracking and operational reporting
- Prepare and deliver regular crop progress updates covering quality assessments, field conditions, pest and disease status, and yield estimates
- Monitor all crop culture activities throughout the growing season including weed control, fertilization programs, irrigation management, pest control, and disease management
Harvest Supervision & Production Support
- Supervise all raw material harvest activities and coordinate timely delivery of harvested capsicums to processing facilities to support the plant production schedule
- Monitor and manage outside processor crop programs to ensure compliance with ofi quality and supply requirements
- Maintain and update the crop growing guide for the Southwest region to reflect current best practices and seasonal learnings
Grower Relations & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with contracted growers and outside processors to build strong, trust-based relationships within the local agricultural community
- Promote a positive and professional company image within the Southwest agricultural community through consistent, respectful engagement
- Monitor competitor activities and competitive crop costs across the Las Cruces and broader Southwest region
Safety, Global Support & General Duties
- Supervise and uphold the area safety program to consistently meet ofi’s established safety objectives across all field and facility activities
- Support ofi’s global sourcing initiatives through travel to international origins for capsicum and vegetable sourcing programs
- Operate and maintain company-provided vehicle in compliance with ofi fleet management policies and standards
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred — major in horticulture, entomology, plant breeding, crop science, agri-business, farm management, or a closely related agricultural field
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent hands-on crop culture or agricultural management experience will be accepted
Experience & Technical Requirements
- Previous work experience in crop culture, crop harvesting, grower relations, or closely related agricultural field roles is strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for field travel across Southwest growing regions
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for crop reporting, cost modeling, and documentation
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required; bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred for grower community engagement
- Strong planning and general management skills with the ability to independently oversee multiple growers, fields, and seasonal programs
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision across remote field locations throughout the Southwest
- Physical ability to work in extreme weather conditions including intense heat and cold typical of Southwest agricultural environments
- Ability to carry and lift items up to 50 pounds as required during field and harvest operations
- Strong desire and availability to travel — this position carries heavy travel demands and extended workdays during peak growing and harvest seasons
