Position Overview
The Software Engineer — Futures Trading Rules & Risk Squad Lead at FundedNext Dubai will architect and own the backend trading infrastructure that powers Rithmic and CQG platform integrations, the Futures Rules Engine, the Abuse Detection System, high-volume event-processing pipelines, and configurable risk management tooling. This role demands deep expertise in PHP/Laravel, Node.js, Kafka, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and a mandatory AI-native engineering approach — while leading squad delivery, managing technical trade-offs, and partnering with Risk, Operations, and Business stakeholders to translate complex futures trading requirements into scalable, high-performance engineering solutions built for global scale.

Key Responsibilities
Trading Platform Architecture & Rithmic/CQG Integration
- Architect and own futures trading platform integrations with Rithmic and CQG — ensuring reliable, low-latency data flow and order routing between FundedNext’s backend systems and trading infrastructure
- Design scalable event-processing pipelines for market data ingestion, order events, and real-time risk evaluations using Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, or equivalent technologies
- Build backend systems architected for platform independence and reduced operational dependency on third-party trading vendors — ensuring resilience and flexibility at global scale
Futures Rules Engine & Abuse Detection System
- Design and implement the Futures Rules Engine — a configurable, high-performance system with trading rule logic and breach detection capabilities that operations and risk teams can manage without code deployments
- Build the Abuse Detection System with investigation tooling for futures-specific patterns including HFT, spoofing, copy trading, and hedging violations — protecting FundedNext’s trading ecosystem at scale
- Develop configurable risk management systems enabling operations and risk teams to dynamically manage rules, margin parameters, and trader thresholds — empowering non-engineering teams to operate safely and efficiently
Backend Performance & Data Architecture Optimisation
- Conduct proactive query optimisation and performance tuning across high-volume futures trading systems — ensuring sub-millisecond response times and system reliability at scale
- Design scalable database schemas and indexing strategies for trade logs, risk events, and position data using MySQL or PostgreSQL — optimised for the demanding throughput of global futures trading operations
- Implement reliable event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, or similar technologies — ensuring fault-tolerant, high-throughput data flows across FundedNext’s trading infrastructure
Squad Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead engineering standards, code reviews, technical documentation, and architectural consistency across PHP/Laravel and Next.js systems within the Futures Trading Rules & Risk Squad
- Manage delivery priorities, sprint execution, dependency coordination, and technical trade-offs — ensuring the squad consistently ships high-quality, on-schedule deliverables across FundedNext’s trading platform
- Partner closely with Risk, Operations, and Business teams to translate complex futures trading and compliance requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions that serve 220,000+ daily traders
AI-Native Engineering & Development Workflow
- Operate using mandatory AI-native engineering workflows — including Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar AI coding agents — as a core part of day-to-day development, debugging, code review, and architectural decision-making
- Leverage AI agents for task delegation, code generation, debugging automation, and project-level workflow optimisation — demonstrating measurable productivity gains through agentic engineering practices

Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong specialisation in backend architecture for high-performance, high-throughput systems
- Proven experience integrating trading platforms, FIX APIs, broker connectivity layers, or financial trading infrastructure — Rithmic or CQG experience is a significant advantage
- Demonstrated experience building configurable rule engines, risk management systems, or auditable business logic platforms within fintech, prop trading, or brokerage environments
Technical Stack
- Expert proficiency in PHP/Laravel — mandatory for this role — with strong experience in Node.js, Next.js, and event-driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis Streams — required for building reliable, scalable event pipelines across futures trading systems
