Position Overview
This Logistics Process Engineer role at GXO Logistics Dorsten is a full-time, day-shift position reporting directly to a senior site manager. You will analyze and optimize existing warehouse processes, lead expansion and automation projects from initiation through handover, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that improve material flow and operational stability. The role covers the full lifecycle of process improvement — from concept and planning through implementation, hypercare, and user adoption — across one of Europe’s most advanced automated logistics facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Optimization
- Analyze and optimize existing logistics processes to identify efficiency, quality, and stability improvements within a highly automated warehouse environment
- Design warehouse layouts, material flows, and workplace setups with a strong focus on ergonomics, cost optimization, and operational efficiency
- Drive lean management initiatives and continuous improvement projects across the Dorsten facility
Project Management & Lifecycle Delivery
- Lead and actively participate in optimization and expansion projects covering the full lifecycle — from project initiation and concept development to detailed planning, implementation, hypercare, and stakeholder handover
- Support the rollout and adoption of new systems, processes, and tools, including training and communication activities for end users
- Manage project timelines, stakeholder expectations, and cross-functional coordination from day one
SOP Development & Documentation
- Develop and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both new and existing processes in close collaboration with the shopfloor trainer
- Sustainably improve material flow through structured process documentation and knowledge transfer
- Ensure process documentation is current, clear, and actionable for frontline warehouse teams
WMS & Automation Systems
- Drive initiatives and projects to improve Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
- Support the implementation of new IT systems and automation solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing warehouse processes
- Contribute to technology adoption with a practical, process-first mindset
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including IT, Operations, and Training to ensure alignment and effective end-to-end process execution
- Report directly to senior site management and communicate data-driven insights that support business decisions
- Support warehouse teams in adopting new processes through effective training and change management
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- University degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Equivalent professional qualification with demonstrable engineering or logistics expertise may be considered
Experience Requirements
- Professional experience in logistics, process optimization, lean management, or project management with a strong focus on logistics operations
- Initial go-live experience within an automated distribution center is considered a strong advantage
- Hands-on exposure to WMS or WCS environments is highly valued
Essential Skills
- Analytical and structured working style with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable process improvements
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English — written and spoken
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong skills in data analysis and documentation
