The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Design role in Dubai is a senior-level, office-based technical position within an MEP engineering consultancy specialising in data centre and critical facilities design. The successful candidate will lead large-scale mechanical design projects, establish design standards and criteria, supervise technical reports and system analysis, maintain interdisciplinary coordination, support construction administration, and play an active role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the firm’s technical leadership and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Client Representation & Technical Leadership
- Represent the firm professionally in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members
- Provide high-level technical leadership across all assigned large-scale mechanical design projects
- Participate in and contribute to the business unit’s Technical Leadership Committee
- Assist the Technical Director in delivering business unit technical training and staff mentoring programmes
Design, Standards & Specification
- Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria tailored to each project’s requirements
- Design large-scale mechanical systems for data centre and critical facilities projects to the highest technical standards
- Apply strong hands-on CAD and Revit design skills to produce precise, construction-ready mechanical drawings and models
Reporting, Analysis & Coordination
- Supervise preparation of technical reports and analysis of system options and building conditions
- Maintain robust interdisciplinary coordination with other trades and project consultants throughout the design process
- Monitor all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, and project owners to ensure clear and timely communication
Construction Administration & Team Development
- Supervise construction administrative duties including field reports, responses to RFIs, and processing bulletins and addenda
- Conduct periodic, objective, and comprehensive employee evaluations of junior engineering staff
- Actively manage, develop, and mentor young engineers within the team to build technical capability
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution — this is a firm requirement
Experience Requirements
- 10 years of experience working within a consulting firm — this is a senior-level role requiring a solid MEP Engineering Industry background
- Data Centre design experience is a must — candidates without this background will not be considered
- Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience is required, as this role carries a very strong technical design component
Additional Preferences
- Candidates already based in the UAE are preferred, given the priority joining timeline of within one month
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and evaluate junior engineering staff within a consulting environment
