Position Overview
The Associate Mechanical Engineer in Dubai utilises existing mechanical engineering procedures to solve routine and standard engineering problems, working under close supervision and mentorship from the project Lead Engineer. The role spans detailed design engineering, calculation preparation, equipment specification, technical and commercial bid evaluation, HSE compliance, and cross-discipline information sharing — giving early-career engineers exceptional exposure to the full mechanical engineering workflow across oil and gas, offshore, and energy transition projects in Dubai and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Analysis
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic mechanical engineering tasks under supervision
- Prepare clear, accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and technical procedures
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine engineering assignments under close mentorship from the Lead Engineer
- Carry out all relevant drafting activities including datasheet sketches, modification drawings, and design documentation
Standards, Procedures & HSE Compliance
- Apply all relevant engineering procedures, practices, and international standards applicable to the mechanical discipline
- Learn and apply standards across Static, Rotating, Package, and special equipment as required by each project
- Apply all relevant HSE requirements and safety criteria in all engineering work, calculations, and design decisions
- Become familiar with all quality systems, documentation procedures, and project compliance requirements
Equipment Specification & Bid Evaluation Support
- Specify simple types of equipment based on process and project requirements under the guidance of the Lead Engineer
- Assist Mechanical Engineers and Buyers with the technical and commercial evaluation of vendor bids and quotations
- Support the review of drawings, documents, and inspection and test procedures received from sellers and manufacturers
- Assist in supplying other engineering disciplines with relevant mechanical information as required by project needs
Project Contribution & Team Communication
- Gain a thorough understanding of the mechanical engineering department’s main duties across different project stages
- Organise your own workload effectively to consistently meet deadlines set by the Lead Engineer or supervisor
- Communicate clearly and proactively with team members — asking questions and verifying understanding at every stage
- Show flexibility and willingness to assist colleagues and supervisors with increased workload during demanding project phases
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline — required for this position
- Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred and will be viewed very favourably by the hiring team
- Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) qualification or membership of a professional engineering society is preferred
Experience Requirements
- 0–3 years of experience in oil and gas or energy engineering — this role is open to strong recent graduates
- Willingness and eagerness to learn design techniques, analysis methods, and application of engineering standards and codes
- Exposure to mechanical engineering discipline areas including Static, Rotating, Package, or special equipment is a plus
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Good English language proficiency in both writing and speaking — B2 level minimum required for this role
