UAE construction experience is mandatory.

About the Role — Project Engineer, Dubai UAE

Project Types: High-rise buildings, commercial developments, residential, fit-out, infrastructure, and MEP installation projects across the UAE

Engineering Disciplines: Civil, structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), fit-out, and building services — depending on candidate background

Key Tools: Primavera P6 / MS Project for scheduling · AutoCAD / Revit for drawing review · MS Office for reporting

Authority Standards: Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Trakhees, and other applicable UAE regulatory bodies

UAE Requirement: UAE construction engineering experience is mandatory — GCC experience in construction or engineering consultancy is also highly valued

Why This Project Engineer Role in Dubai Stands Out

Dubai Market Growth: One of the world’s most active construction markets — Project Engineers with UAE experience are in consistent, high demand

Diverse Projects: Exposure to multiple project types across residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors

Career Advancement: Clear pathway from Project Engineer to Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager within a growing UAE construction enterprise

Technical Breadth: A multi-disciplinary, cross-functional engineering role with full site, planning, and authority management responsibilities

Position Overview

As Project Engineer in Dubai, you will serve as the technical and coordination anchor for construction projects — responsible for ensuring that engineering, procurement, subcontracting, quality, and programme management all work in harmony to deliver projects on time, to specification, and within budget. Your day-to-day activities will span reviewing and approving shop drawings and material submittals, preparing and managing RFIs with consultants, updating and monitoring project schedules using Primavera or MS Project, supervising on-site work quality, coordinating with MEP and civil subcontractors, managing material deliveries and site logistics, attending progress meetings, producing regular site progress reports, and maintaining all project documentation to the standard required for authority inspections and client handover. This is a genuinely multi-faceted engineering role in Dubai’s fast-moving and technically demanding construction environment.

Why This Role Matters: As Project Engineer in Dubai, every drawing you review, every RFI you raise, and every subcontractor issue you resolve has a direct impact on whether a construction project is delivered on time, to the right quality, and within the cost parameters that define its commercial success. In Dubai’s extraordinarily active construction landscape — where landmark buildings, mixed-use developments, and infrastructure projects are simultaneously under construction across every corner of the emirate — a skilled, UAE-experienced Project Engineer is one of the most valuable professionals a construction company can have. Your technical precision and coordination discipline are what turn architectural visions into built reality.

 Key Responsibilities

Site Engineering, Supervision & Technical Coordination

  • Oversee and supervise on-site construction activities — ensuring all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable UAE authority standards and codes
  • Review, check, and coordinate shop drawings, as-built drawings, method statements, and material submittals — ensuring full technical compliance with contract requirements before site implementation
  • Conduct regular site inspections and technical walk-throughs — identifying quality non-conformances, safety hazards, and programme deviations, and coordinating timely corrective action with responsible parties
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces between civil, MEP, structural, architectural, and interior disciplines — proactively resolving design clashes and construction conflicts before they delay programme or escalate costs

Project Planning, Scheduling & Progress Monitoring

  • Prepare, update, and monitor detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project — tracking progress against baseline, identifying critical path risks, and recommending mitigation actions
  • Attend weekly and monthly project progress meetings — preparing and presenting accurate progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and programme recovery plans for client, consultant, and management review
  • Monitor and track material procurement and delivery schedules — coordinating with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure all construction materials arrive on site on time and to approved specification
  • Support the preparation of project lookahead schedules, manpower histograms, and resource loading charts — providing planning data that supports efficient site resource allocation and management decision-making

RFI Management, Documentation & Authority Compliance

  • Prepare, submit, track, and close out Requests for Information (RFIs) with consultants and client representatives — ensuring all technical queries are resolved accurately, promptly, and fully documented
  • Maintain comprehensive and well-organized project documentation — including drawings registers, submittal logs, RFI logs, inspection records, test certificates, and correspondence files throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure full compliance with Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Trakhees, and other applicable UAE authority requirements across all project engineering, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Support authority inspection visits — preparing required documentation packages, arranging site readiness, and coordinating with project management and the client team to ensure smooth, successful inspection outcomes

Subcontractor Management, Quality & HSE Compliance

  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor performance — reviewing work programmes, monitoring site productivity, attending site coordination meetings, and ensuring subcontractor activities align with overall project requirements
  • Enforce project quality standards — reviewing inspection and test plans (ITPs), witnessing hold points, and ensuring all construction activities are completed to the specified quality requirements before sign-off
  • Support the implementation of the project Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) plan — promoting a strong safety culture on site and ensuring all team members and subcontractors comply with UAE safety regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of variation order (VO) claims, delay analysis documentation, and project close-out packages — contributing engineering input to commercial and contractual processes as required

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline — required for this Project Engineer role in Dubai
  • Professional engineering certifications (PMP, PQS, or equivalent UAE/international recognition) are a meaningful advantage and will be given priority in the candidate evaluation process

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of construction engineering experience in the UAE — with a proven track record on high-rise, commercial, residential, hospitality, or infrastructure projects in the Dubai or wider UAE market
  • Demonstrated experience with shop drawing review, RFI management, material submittal coordination, and project documentation management in a UAE construction contracting or consultancy environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UAE authority requirements — including Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, and other regulatory bodies relevant to construction project delivery in the emirate

Technical Software Skills

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project for project scheduling, programme monitoring, and progress reporting — able to build, update, and analyze construction schedules independently
  • Strong AutoCAD skills — able to read, check, and annotate construction drawings across civil, architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines accurately and efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office — Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook — for reporting, correspondence, documentation management, and management-level project presentations
  • Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or BIM coordination tools is considered a strong additional advantage for multi-disciplinary project coordination in Dubai’s increasingly BIM-enabled construction sector
