Position Overview

As Halal Officer at this Dubai food manufacturing facility, you will be the company’s dedicated guardian of Halal integrity — ensuring that every ingredient sourced, every process followed, every piece of equipment used, and every product produced meets the strict requirements of UAE Halal certification standards and the company’s Halal Management System (HMS). Your responsibilities are both technical and operational: verifying Halal compliance of raw materials and ingredients from suppliers, inspecting production areas for contamination risks and segregation compliance, maintaining meticulous Halal documentation and records, conducting internal Halal audits, delivering employee Halal awareness training, and working proactively with production and procurement teams to identify and resolve Halal compliance risks before they result in certification issues or product withdrawals. This is a critical, high-integrity role in a food manufacturing environment where Halal compliance is a fundamental legal, religious, and commercial requirement.

Why This Role Matters: As Halal Officer in Dubai’s food manufacturing sector, your compliance decisions directly protect the religious rights of Muslim consumers who trust that every Halal-certified product they purchase has been produced with the full integrity that certification promises. In the UAE — where Halal compliance is both a legal requirement and a deeply held consumer expectation — your inspections, documentation, supplier verifications, and employee training activities are the frontline defence of that trust. At a food manufacturing company that values Halal integrity, your role is not a back-office compliance function: it is a fundamental part of the company’s commitment to honesty, quality, and respect for its consumers.

 Key Responsibilities

Halal Management System Maintenance & Compliance

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Company’s Halal Management System (HMS) — ensuring all documented procedures, policies, and controls remain current, effective, and fully aligned with UAE.S 2055 and relevant GSO Halal standards
  • Monitor and verify that all production processes, equipment, and product handling practices are consistently compliant with the company’s Halal certification requirements and the conditions of its certification body
  • Identify potential Halal integrity risks in processes, ingredients, and production practices — communicating findings to the QA Manager and coordinating corrective actions with relevant teams
  • Support the preparation and review of the Halal Management System documentation — ensuring all records, flowcharts, control plans, and compliance evidence are accurate, complete, and audit-ready

Halal Ingredient Verification, Traceability & Supplier Compliance

  • Verify the Halal status of all incoming raw materials, ingredients, additives, processing aids, and packaging materials — reviewing supplier Halal certificates, CoA documents, and ingredient declarations before approval
  • Conduct and maintain thorough supplier Halal verification records — tracking certificate validity, renewal dates, and compliance status for all approved Halal suppliers in the company’s approved supplier list
  • Ensure proper Halal ingredient traceability is maintained throughout the production process — from raw material receipt through production, storage, and finished product dispatch
  • Coordinate with the Procurement team on Halal ingredient sourcing decisions — providing technical Halal compliance input on new ingredient approvals, supplier changes, and product reformulation activities

Production Inspections — Segregation, Sanitation & Contamination Control

  • Conduct regular Halal inspections of production areas, storage zones, and food handling environments — verifying that Halal product segregation, equipment cleaning, and cross-contamination controls are consistently maintained
  • Inspect sanitation and cleaning procedures for Halal compliance — ensuring that cleaning agents, procedures, and schedules meet Halal requirements and that cross-contamination with non-Halal substances is effectively prevented
  • Monitor and verify that Halal products and non-Halal materials are properly segregated in all storage, handling, and production areas — in full compliance with the company’s Halal segregation policy
  • Document all inspection findings accurately and promptly — raising non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, and verifying effectiveness within agreed timelines

Internal Halal Audits, Documentation & Employee Training

  • Plan and conduct internal Halal audits across all production, storage, and supplier-facing activities — assessing HMS effectiveness and identifying improvement opportunities before external certification audits
  • Maintain comprehensive and well-organized Halal compliance records — including inspection logs, audit reports, supplier verification files, employee training records, and corrective action documentation
  • Support external Halal certification body audits — preparing required documentation packages, coordinating site access, and ensuring all areas are audit-ready and compliant at the time of inspection
  • Design and deliver Halal awareness and training sessions for production, procurement, and QA staff — ensuring all employees understand their role in maintaining Halal integrity across the manufacturing operation

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Islamic Studies, Quality Management, or a closely related field — required for this Halal Officer role in Dubai’s food manufacturing sector
  • Additional certifications in Halal auditing, food safety management, or Islamic dietary law are a meaningful professional advantage and will be given priority in the selection process

Experience Requirements

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in Halal compliance, quality assurance, or food manufacturing — with direct experience in Halal certification management or food industry QA roles preferred
  • Working knowledge of UAE Halal requirements (UAE.S 2055 series), GSO Halal standards, recognized Halal certification schemes, HACCP, GMP, and applicable food safety management systems
  • Practical understanding of Halal ingredient verification, supply chain traceability, product segregation, sanitation protocols, and contamination control in a food production environment

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience conducting internal audits, facility inspections, and maintaining Halal documentation and compliance records in a structured quality management environment
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills — able to review complex ingredient information, supplier documentation, and production records with precision and thoroughness
  • Good communication and presentation skills — comfortable delivering Halal awareness training and building effective working relationships with production, procurement, and quality teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) — for documentation management, data tracking, audit reporting, and Halal records maintenance
