Position Overview

This PSC Inventory Specialist role at Nabors Industries in ICAD-1, Abu Dhabi is a comprehensive inventory management and supply chain control position within one of the world’s most respected and internationally active oilfield drilling technology companies. You will take full responsibility for all aspects of inventory management at Nabors’ corporate warehouses and third-party storage facilities — developing and implementing inventory and warehouse management policies, auditing compliance, optimising inventory levels for each rig type and region, working with operations and maintenance teams to define sourcing strategies, designing monthly performance reports, coordinating physical inventory counts, managing rig transfer and start-up inventory procedures, ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley compliance through annual audits, and advising management on root cause issues and corrective actions. The role requires 2–4 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain, strong analytical skills, ERP proficiency, and a self-starter mindset capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Why This Role Matters: As PSC Inventory Specialist at Nabors Industries in ICAD-1, Abu Dhabi — within a global energy technology company operating across 20 countries — you will manage the inventory infrastructure that keeps Nabors’ drilling rig operations supplied with the right materials at the right time across the UAE and the broader region, develop and implement the inventory policies, systems, and procedures that drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across corporate and third-party warehouse facilities, contribute to Sarbanes-Oxley compliant inventory management that upholds Nabors’ financial integrity and regulatory standing, apply Lean Six Sigma principles and ERP expertise to continuously optimise inventory levels, reduce surplus, and improve the efficiency of sourcing for rig maintenance and repair, and build a specialised oilfield inventory management career within one of the global energy industry’s most technically advanced and internationally experienced drilling services companies.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management — Corporate & Third-Party Warehouses

  • Take full responsibility for all aspects of inventory management at Nabors’ corporate warehouses and third-party facilities — monitoring all inventory transactions to ensure complete accuracy whether managed manually or systematically through ERP and warehouse management systems
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive, accurate records of the value, type, and quantity of all supplies held in corporate and third-party warehouses — providing management with reliable, real-time visibility of inventory status, valuation, and movement across all storage locations
  • Ensure field warehouse adherence to company policies and procedures related to inventory and warehouse management — conducting regular compliance audits, identifying gaps, communicating required corrections, and following up to verify effective implementation
  • Monitor for inventory surplus, product damage, and returned materials — identifying and escalating surplus situations, coordinating damage assessments, processing product returns correctly, and leading inventory monetisation and disposal processes that recover maximum value from surplus and unserviceable stock

Policy, Procedure Development & System Implementation

  • Develop comprehensive inventory and warehouse management policies and procedures — creating practical, clearly written documentation that defines how inventory should be received, stored, tracked, issued, transferred, disposed of, and counted across all Nabors warehouse facilities in the region
  • Drive the implementation of policies, procedures, and inventory management best practices across all warehouse locations — communicating requirements clearly, providing training and guidance to warehouse teams, and monitoring compliance to ensure consistent application of Nabors’ inventory management standards
  • Lead the development of systems to support effective and efficient inventory and warehouse management — evaluating current system capabilities, identifying gaps, coordinating with IT and supply chain teams to implement improvements, and ensuring that ERP and warehouse management system configurations accurately support Nabors’ inventory control requirements
  • Develop a consistent procedure to maintain inventory accuracy during rig transfers, rig stacking, and rig start-up activities — ensuring that all materials associated with rig movement events are correctly tracked, transferred, documented, and reconciled in the inventory system without gaps or inaccuracies that could undermine inventory data integrity

Inventory Optimisation & Operations Interface

  • Perform systematic analysis to optimise inventory levels across the portfolio — reviewing consumption patterns, lead times, usage rates, and criticality classifications to determine appropriate stock levels, safety stock buffers, and reorder points for each inventory category across each rig type and operational region
  • Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to define the appropriate inventory levels for each rig type and regional deployment — understanding the specific material requirements, criticality, and lead time characteristics of each rig configuration to ensure that field operations are never delayed by preventable materials shortages
  • Interface with operations and maintenance teams to optimise sourcing strategies for rig maintenance and repair activities — supporting make-or-buy decisions, vendor rationalisation, strategic sourcing initiatives, and the identification of alternative supply sources that improve availability, cost competitiveness, and supply chain resilience
  • Advise management of any root cause issues identified through inventory analysis, audit findings, or operational feedback — ensuring that corrective actions are clearly communicated, effectively implemented, and tracked to verified completion so that recurring inventory accuracy or compliance problems are systematically eliminated

Cycle Counts, Physical Inventory & SOX Compliance

  • Assist in the coordination and completion of all periodic physical inventory counts — planning count schedules, assigning count responsibilities, supervising count activities, reconciling count results against system records, investigating discrepancies, and managing inventory adjustments through appropriate authorisation and documentation procedures
  • Monitor compliance with cycle count schedules — tracking cycle count completion rates across all warehouse locations, escalating non-compliance, and ensuring that cycle count programmes maintain the frequency and coverage required to sustain ongoing inventory accuracy
  • Conduct annual audits to maintain a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliant inventory management environment — evaluating internal controls, testing control effectiveness, documenting audit findings, and coordinating corrective actions that address any identified control weaknesses before year-end financial reporting
  • Ensure inventory accuracy at all times — treating inventory data integrity as a non-negotiable operational and financial compliance requirement, and implementing the monitoring, control, and correction mechanisms needed to maintain the highest achievable level of system-to-physical inventory alignment across all facilities

Performance Reporting & KPI Management

  • Design and release monthly inventory performance reports for management — covering key metrics including inventory accuracy rates, cycle count completion and variance rates, inventory turnover by category, surplus stock values, damage and disposal statistics, and any other performance indicators that provide management with actionable visibility of inventory operations performance
  • Develop and maintain inventory performance dashboards and tracking tools — ensuring that management at all levels has timely, accurate, and clearly presented information on inventory status, trends, and emerging risks across all warehouse locations and rig supply portfolios
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis and reasoning on inventory performance data — identifying trends, root causes of performance variances, and specific improvement opportunities, and presenting findings and recommendations to management in a structured, credible, and actionable manner

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Material Management, or a closely related field from a recognised accredited university — a mandatory educational qualification for this PSC Inventory Specialist role at Nabors Industries
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred — demonstrating advanced academic preparation for the strategic and analytical responsibilities of this senior inventory management role

Experience Requirements

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in Procurement, Inventory Management, Supply Chain, or a closely related field — ideally within an oil and gas, energy services, or heavy industrial environment where rig or plant maintenance material management is a core operational requirement
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, procurement, or inventory optimisation — with a practical understanding of how to define and manage inventory levels, sourcing strategies, and warehouse procedures in a complex, multi-location operational environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and ERP applications — confident daily use of ERP systems for inventory transactions, reporting, cycle count management, and data analysis in a corporate warehouse and field logistics environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated practical experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodology to inventory and supply chain process improvement — a significant advantage for candidates applying to this analytically focused inventory optimisation role
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements for inventory management — with direct experience conducting SOX compliance audits or supporting SOX audit processes in a corporate inventory or supply chain function
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across all levels of Nabors’ global organisation — building trusted working relationships with warehouse teams, operations and maintenance engineers, procurement colleagues, and senior management across multiple facilities and regions
