Position Overview
This ITS Engineer role in Abu Dhabi is a field-based construction supervision position covering the full lifecycle of a major Intelligent Transportation Systems project. You will supervise on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of ITS systems, monitor contractor compliance with approved drawings and project specifications, review contractor submittals and shop drawings, witness FAT and SAT activities, coordinate with civil, electrical, telecom, traffic, and systems engineering teams, prepare inspection and non-conformance reports, and support project closeout and as-built documentation — all in close coordination with Abu Dhabi transport authorities and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities
ITS Installation Supervision & Site Inspection
- Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of ITS systems on-site across the transportation network
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and relevant standards
- Inspect and verify installation works for ITS infrastructure and equipment at all stages
- Identify construction issues and provide technical recommendations to support timely project delivery
FAT, SAT & Commissioning Witnessing
- Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), integrated testing, and commissioning activities
- Ensure ITS systems are commissioned in full compliance with approved specifications and authority requirements
- Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, systems engineers, and client representatives
- Support system handover activities and ensure all testing records are accurately documented and accepted
Contractor Submittal Review & Compliance Management
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, testing procedures, and commissioning plans related to ITS systems
- Review and verify contractor progress against approved schedules and project milestones
- Prepare site inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), snagging reports, and progress updates
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements at all times
Multidisciplinary Team Coordination
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary supervision teams including civil, electrical, telecom, traffic, and systems engineers
- Liaise with Abu Dhabi stakeholders and transport authorities regarding approvals, inspections, and project handover requirements
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, client representatives, and authority contacts throughout the project
- Support multidisciplinary integration of ITS systems within the broader transportation network infrastructure
Project Closeout & As-Built Documentation
- Support project closeout activities including preparation of as-built documentation and final acceptance records
- Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in line with authority and client requirements
- Coordinate final handover activities with Abu Dhabi transport authorities including ITC where applicable
- Maintain comprehensive project records throughout the lifecycle for audit and compliance purposes
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in ITS engineering and construction supervision (REQUIRED)
- Demonstrated experience working on ITS construction projects within the UAE
- Experience supervising ITS installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi transport authority requirements and project delivery processes
- ITC (Integrated Transport Centre) approval is preferable and a strong advantage
- Design experience is preferable as an additional benefit
Essential Technical Skills
- Good understanding of ITS standards, traffic management systems, communications networks, and systems integration
- Experience reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and commissioning plans
- Experience witnessing FAT, SAT, integrated testing, and formal commissioning activities
- Strong technical reporting skills — NCRs, site inspection reports, snagging, and progress documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities across multidisciplinary project teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation and project management systems
