This role executes the hardware technology roadmap for Eaton’s EMEA PMCC and LSDPI product portfolio, including PLCs, Low Voltage Switchgear, and IoT-enabled products.

Position Overview
This Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer role executes the hardware technology roadmap for Eaton’s EMEA PMCC and LSDPI product portfolio, providing technical leadership for new technology introduction, value engineering, PCB modernization, and sustaining engineering initiatives. You will design, develop, validate, and optimize electronic hardware solutions, lead technical reviews, drive component lifecycle and obsolescence management, and collaborate across global cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to ensure efficient execution and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities
Hardware Technology Roadmap
- Define and execute the hardware technology roadmap for the EMEA LSDPI and PMCC divisions
- Develop and align common hardware strategies with Global Business Units and cross-functional teams
New Product Introduction & Engineering Leadership
- Lead hardware engineering activities for new product introduction, PCB modernization, and value engineering
- Provide technical leadership for hardware design, architecture reviews, and component selection
- Support ownership of P&P projects and serve as a technical approver for hardware deliverables
Technology Adoption & Standardization
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies related to PLC platforms, IoT solutions, and PCB design
- Lead standardization and modernization of common hardware modules across multiple product platforms
Lifecycle Management & Innovation
- Drive component lifecycle and obsolescence management for long-term product sustainability
- Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for technology advancement and cost reduction
- Promote innovation through new concepts, intellectual property generation, and patent submissions
- Support technology readiness through proof-of-concept, prototyping, and validation activities
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements (REQUIRED)
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electronics and Telecommunication
Experience Requirements (REQUIRED)
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience across the full product development life cycle, including requirements, design, verification, and qualification
Technical Skills (REQUIRED)
- Sound knowledge of electronics components (active, passive, custom parts), PCB manufacturing, and assembly
- Hands-on experience with CAM tools like CAM350, Gerber view, and Valor
- Knowledge of PCB materials, soldermask, solder finish methods (ENIG, HASL, OSP), conformal coating, layer stackup, and Gerber files
- Sound knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, including reflow, wave, and hand soldering methodologies
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC troubleshooting and resolution
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Good analytical skills with the ability to work across global cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
