Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer – Construction Supervision oversees mechanical systems installation, coordinates with contractors and subcontractors, and ensures all work meets engineering specifications and safety standards on AECOM’s Abu Dhabi construction projects. Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Systems Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical systems installation, including HVAC, plumbing, and equipment placement on construction sites
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Review and approve mechanical work performed by contractors and subcontractors, ensuring quality and adherence to project requirements
Technical Issue Resolution & Documentation
- Identify and resolve technical issues and discrepancies in real-time, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Maintain detailed construction documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and progress updates
- Maintain organized records of mechanical specifications, change orders, and project modifications
Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, UAE construction regulations, and environmental compliance requirements
- Prepare and review mechanical inspection and testing reports to verify system performance and functionality
Project Management & Mentorship
- Manage project timelines and communicate progress to stakeholders, escalating delays or concerns promptly
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site personnel
- Support overall project delivery on schedule and within budget
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years in construction supervision or site management
- Preferred: previous experience on large-scale construction projects in the Middle East region
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design principles
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and equipment installation
- Comprehensive understanding of UAE construction standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in construction management software and documentation systems
- Preferred: experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Preferred: familiarity with mechanical inspection and testing procedures and protocols
