Position Overview
This Design Engineer role covers design and routing of cable harnesses in moving robot axes, selecting cables and connectors, designing mounting flanges, covers and seals, and proving lifetime reliability through tests and supplier work.
Key Responsibilities
Cable & Connector Design
- Design and route cable harnesses in moving robot axes
- Select and specify cables, connectors and feedthroughs
Mechanical Interfaces
- Design mechanical interfaces such as mounting flanges, covers and seals
Reliability & Documentation
- Ensure lifetime reliability (bend cycles, torsion) through testing and supplier coordination
- Create drawings and manufacturing documentation for the peripherals
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Degree or technician qualification in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or similar
Experience
- Experience in cable harness or peripheral design (robotics or automotive a plus)
- Knowledge of cable carrier and torsion applications and connector systems
- Confident use of 3D CAD (cable-routing modules a plus)
Essential Skills
- Hands-on, detail-oriented way of working
- Good German and English, written and spoken
