Key Responsibilities
Construction Supervision & Quality Control
- Supervise all electrical works for roads, bridges, underpasses, and associated transportation infrastructure — covering street lighting, feeder pillars, LV cable networks, lighting control systems, and architectural and feature lighting installations across active Dubai project sites
- Ensure all electrical installations are executed in strict compliance with approved engineering designs, project specifications, and applicable UAE authority requirements — maintaining zero tolerance for non-compliant installation practices
- Develop and implement structured inspection and test procedures for all electrical works in accordance with the project quality plan — establishing clear hold points, witness points, and review stages for all critical electrical installation activities
- Review and formally assess shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all electrical components — verifying compliance with specifications and engineering requirements before approving for construction
- Witness and formally verify testing, commissioning, and energization activities for all electrical systems — ensuring full compliance with technical, safety, and authority requirements before any system is energized or handed over
- Oversee the safe and technically sound integration of electrical works with bridge structural components — ensuring all embedded conduits, cable management systems, and electrical interfaces are installed correctly to maintain structural integrity and long-term system durability
DEWA Coordination & Authority Management
- Coordinate directly with DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) for all electrical supply connections, planned inspections, and NOC approvals — managing the full authority interface from initial application through to final energization sign-off
- Liaise proactively with other relevant UAE authorities, utility providers, and service agencies — ensuring timely resolution of approval requirements, interface issues, and service coordination matters that could impact the electrical works programme
- Participate actively in technical coordination meetings with all relevant project stakeholders — addressing service diversions, protection works requirements, and the integration of electrical systems with the broader bridge and road infrastructure works
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authority submissions, approval status, NOC documentation, and DEWA correspondence — ensuring full traceability of the regulatory compliance process throughout the project lifecycle
Project Integration & Cross-Discipline Coordination
- Work closely and constructively with civil, structural, and mechanical engineering teams — ensuring the seamless integration of electrical works within bridge structures and road infrastructure elements throughout all phases of construction
- Ensure proper sequencing of electrical installation activities in full alignment with structural and civil works construction schedules — preventing interface conflicts that could cause delays or require costly rework
- Coordinate effectively with the design office team on material technical reviews, engineering queries (RFIs), and design modification assessments — providing site-based technical input that ensures design intent is maintained in the field
- Identify and proactively resolve cross-discipline interface issues between electrical, civil, and structural works — preventing scope gaps, overlap conflicts, and installation clashes from developing into construction delays or programme risks
Technical Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive and well-organised records of all site inspections, test results, electrical commissioning activities, and installation progress — ensuring full technical traceability and audit readiness throughout the project
- Prepare accurate and timely inputs for daily and weekly progress reports — clearly highlighting key achievements, programme concerns, outstanding approvals, quality non-conformances, and technical issues requiring management attention
- Support the preparation of project punch lists and final handover documentation for all electrical systems — ensuring that all outstanding deficiencies are formally tracked, resolved, and signed off before project completion and client acceptance
Leadership, Safety & Problem-Solving
- Guide and directly supervise a team of electrical inspectors on-site — providing technical direction, quality oversight, and professional mentoring to ensure consistent quality standards and compliance are maintained across all electrical works fronts
- Identify potential technical issues and site risks at the earliest possible stage — recommending practical, cost-effective solutions that prevent delays, rework, and safety incidents before they impact the project programme or budget
- Promote an active HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) culture on-site — ensuring strict adherence to all project safety requirements and leading by personal example in every aspect of site safety management
Qualifications & Requirements - Educational Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university — this is a mandatory requirement for this position; candidates without a relevant engineering degree will not be considered
- Additional professional certifications such as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), PMP, or relevant IEEE membership are advantageous and will strengthen a candidate’s application
- Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the UAE in electrical engineering roles — with a demonstrable track record of construction supervision on roads, bridges, or transportation infrastructure projects in the UAE market
- In-depth knowledge of UAE local authority procedures, standards, and regulations — specifically including DEWA requirements, approval processes, and NOC management; this knowledge is described as essential by AECOM and is non-negotiable
