Pasa Sustainable Agriculture is seeking a full-time Farm Research Analyst to dig into data from farm-based research projects, including the Financial Benchmark Study, Soil Health Benchmark Study, and Nutrient Density Study. Mission: Cultivating environmentally sound, economically viable, community-focused farms and food systems
Core Research Areas: Financial Benchmark Study, Soil Health Benchmark Study, and Nutrient Density Study
Work Arrangement: Remote-based with ~20% travel, including field events and annual staff retreats
Location Requirement: Must reside within Pennsylvania or 150 miles of Harrisburg (or 1-hour drive of Philadelphia/Pittsburgh with approval)
Funding: Position funded through April 2028, with possible renewal

Position Overview
This Farm Research Analyst role works with farmers and Pasa’s research team to accurately collect and organize data for farm-based research studies. You will provide timely review and analysis of data, lead the development of papers, reports, and presentations, forward Pasa’s research projects by uncovering new research questions, communicate results through engaging presentations, contribute to grant writing and reporting, and serve on internal and external boards and committees, supervised by one of the Research Co-Directors.

Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Analysis
- Work with farmers and Pasa’s research team to accurately collect and organize research data
- Participate in the continual improvement of data collection efforts
- Provide timely review and analysis of data
Reporting & Communication
- Lead and contribute to the development of papers, reports, and presentations
- Communicate results and lead engaging presentations with research collaborators and the agricultural community
- Facilitate discussions about research findings and related topics
Research Development & Strategy
- Use data to develop and uncover new research initiatives and questions
- Refine research projects to support the needs of research collaborators
Organizational Contribution
- Contribute to grant writing and reporting
- Serve on internal and external boards and committees
- Support additional data collection, organization, and analysis needs, including fieldwork
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Advanced degree in soil science, crop science, agribusiness/agricultural economics, or a related field
- Or at least 4 years of experience in one of these areas
Experience Requirements
- Significant experience organizing and analyzing data in R
- At least 2 years of practical experience in production agriculture or farmer technical assistance
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication skills, including conveying technical information to different audiences
- Excellent organizational abilities to keep data streams organized, secure, and interpretable
- Ability to work collaboratively across a cross-organizational team
- Passion for Pasa’s mission and commitment to advancing anti-oppression
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Salesforce, Tableau, or similar software
- Experience with Quickbooks Online and farm business financial accounting
- Experience with data visualization and PostgreSQL database management
- Experience with grant writing and reporting
- Bilingual Spanish
