Position Overview

This Agriculture Sales Manager / Sales Representative role in the United States is a dynamic, field-based sales position covering the full sales cycle across an assigned agricultural territory. You will service existing dealer and customer accounts, proactively develop new accounts and channel partnerships, conduct product demonstrations and technical training, manage contracts and payment processes, collect and report market intelligence, participate in trade shows and industry events, and submit timely weekly and monthly sales reports to management. The role requires a self-motivated, technically knowledgeable, and relationship-focused sales professional who thrives in the field, understands the agricultural industry, and has the drive and commercial acumen to consistently meet and exceed territory sales targets.

Why This Role Matters: As Agriculture Sales Manager in the United States — with 2–5 years of agri industry experience and strong territory management and channel development skills — you will directly drive revenue growth and market share expansion for an agricultural products company competing in one of the world’s largest and most commercially significant farming markets, build deep, trust-based relationships with dealers, distributors, and end-user farmers that create sustainable competitive advantage, apply your agricultural knowledge and sales expertise to genuinely help customers improve their farming outcomes through the right product solutions, and advance your agri sales career in a role that combines technical product mastery with strategic territory development and real commercial impact.

 Key Responsibilities

Account Management & New Business Development

  • Service existing customer and dealer accounts with consistency and professionalism — obtaining repeat orders, maintaining strong relationships, resolving service issues promptly, and proactively identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities that grow revenue from the established account base
  • Develop new accounts systematically across the assigned territory — identifying and qualifying prospective dealers, distributors, and end-user accounts through structured prospecting activity, cold outreach, referral networks, and trade event contacts
  • Plan and organise a productive daily field sales schedule — prioritising customer visits, phone follow-ups, and administrative activities to maximise productive selling time and ensure all accounts receive the frequency of contact their commercial value and relationship stage requires
  • Study the existing and potential volume of dealers and distribution channels within the assigned territory — identifying growth opportunities, underperforming account segments, and market white spaces that represent realistic revenue expansion opportunities for the company

Full Sales Cycle Management

  • Manage the complete end-to-end sales process — from initial prospecting and needs discovery through product presentations, technical demonstrations, commercial proposal development, price negotiation, contract signing, and post-sale payment and order management
  • Conduct compelling product demonstrations and technical presentations — translating complex agricultural product features into clear, customer-relevant performance benefits that address the specific farming challenges, crop protection needs, or productivity improvement goals of each prospect or customer
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with dealers and direct customers — applying strong commercial judgement and skilled negotiation technique to reach agreements that protect company margins while delivering genuine value to the customer
  • Manage payment processes for contracted accounts — following up on outstanding invoices, coordinating with finance on credit and payment terms, and maintaining accurate commercial records that support clean revenue recognition and account management

Channel Development & Distributor Management

  • Develop and manage channel partnerships with agricultural dealers, distributors, co-operatives, and input retailers within the assigned territory — building relationships that prioritise and actively promote the company’s product portfolio to their grower and farming customer networks
  • Provide or organise basic product training for channel partners and customer organisations — ensuring dealers and distributors have the product knowledge, application guidance, and technical confidence they need to recommend and sell the company’s agricultural products effectively in the market
  • Monitor and manage channel partner performance — tracking sell-through rates, stock levels, promotional compliance, and market feedback from each key channel partner to identify opportunities and resolve performance issues that impact territory sales results
  • Build a diverse, well-balanced channel structure across the territory — avoiding over-reliance on single channel partners, developing secondary and tertiary distribution, and ensuring the company’s products are available and actively sold across the full geographic scope of the assigned sales territory

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Collect comprehensive market intelligence across the assigned territory — gathering data and insights on market size, market trends, new product launches by competitors, emerging application opportunities, customer buying patterns, and grower preference shifts that are relevant to the company’s commercial strategy
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable internal reports — ensuring field insights are structured, clearly communicated, and submitted to management in a timely manner that allows the company to respond to market opportunities and competitive threats with appropriate speed and precision
  • Submit accurate weekly and monthly territory sales reports to management — covering account activity, pipeline status, sales results versus targets, market feedback, competitive observations, and key decisions or support requirements needed from the organisation
  • Provide regular forecast updates — projecting territory sales volumes accurately for the short and medium term, supporting the company’s production planning, inventory management, and commercial planning processes with reliable, well-informed field-based demand forecasts

Trade Shows, Events & Customer Engagement

  • Participate actively in relevant industry trade shows, agricultural conferences, field days, and demonstration events — representing the company’s product portfolio with professionalism and technical confidence, and leveraging event participation to develop new leads, strengthen existing relationships, and raise market awareness of the company’s brand
  • Organise and participate in local customer engagement activities — farm visits, grower meetings, dealer training events, and product launch demonstrations — building the company’s visibility and technical credibility within the farming communities served by the assigned territory
  • Execute any additional tasks and commercial activities assigned by the line manager — demonstrating the flexibility, initiative, and team orientation that a successful field sales professional brings to a dynamic, growth-oriented agricultural business

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2–5 years of relevant working experience in the agriculture sector — including sales, service, technical training, or other directly related commercial or customer-facing roles in the agri industry
  • Experience in channel development and sales management is preferred — candidates with a track record of building, managing, and growing agricultural dealer or distributor networks will be viewed highly positively
  • Strong, demonstrable agricultural product knowledge and technical understanding — the ability to engage credibly with farmers, agronomists, dealers, and industry professionals on the technical performance and application of agricultural inputs

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent customer relations skills — the ability to build trust, demonstrate genuine interest in customers’ farming challenges, and maintain long-term relationships that generate repeat business and referral opportunities across the territory
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously — planning a productive territory coverage schedule, managing a diverse account portfolio, and meeting sales targets while maintaining accurate reporting and commercial documentation
  • Fluency in English — both spoken and written — is a mandatory requirement for this role; additional local language skills (Spanish or other relevant US regional languages) are a positive advantage
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory on a regular basis — visiting customers in the field, attending trade shows and events, and conducting product demonstrations as needed to build and sustain account relationships
  • Strong closing skills, negotiation technique, and self-confidence in commercial settings — the drive and competitive motivation to consistently pursue and win new business while protecting and growing the existing account base
