The Laboratory Manager in Abu Dhabi is a senior operational role responsible for the full supervision and coordination of all laboratory activities across chemical, microbiological, and environmental testing sections. Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Performance Management
- Supervise and coordinate all laboratory operations across chemical, microbiological, and environmental testing sections to ensure efficient and accurate performance at all times
- Ensure timely delivery of accurate and reliable laboratory reports in compliance with company quality policies and client requirements
- Monitor laboratory workflows, identify operational bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize turnaround times and testing quality
- Oversee proper maintenance, calibration, and performance verification of all laboratory instruments and equipment across all sections
Laboratory Management & Business Performance
- Lead laboratory management functions including budgeting, invoice management, inventory reporting, and purchase approvals
- Manage resource planning covering both manpower requirements and technical needs to support efficient daily laboratory operations
- Conduct business performance analysis to support the commercial objectives of the laboratory division within the wider conglomerate
- Coordinate with Business Development and Sales teams to actively promote laboratory services, attract new clients, and support revenue growth
QHSE Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure full compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards across all laboratory operations and reporting activities
- Monitor corrective actions (NCRs), supervise internal audits, and verify all laboratory reports and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Support the QA Manager in maintaining existing laboratory scope and driving expansion of accreditations and certifications where applicable
- Ensure all FSMS, HACCP, and ISO certification requirements are consistently met and ready for external audit and inspection at all times
Continuous Improvement & Customer Satisfaction
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through regular customer satisfaction monitoring, structured complaint resolution processes, and management review meetings
- Set clear performance goals for the laboratory team and establish measurable KPIs aligned with business development and quality objectives
- Handle customer feedback professionally and implement corrective measures to protect and enhance the laboratory’s reputation and service quality
- Coordinate with business development functions to identify new service
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification Requirements
- Must hold valid FSMS (Food Safety Management System) and HACCP certifications — these are non-negotiable mandatory requirements
- Must hold recognized ISO certifications relevant to laboratory management, such as ISO 17025, ISO 22000, or equivalent accreditations
Experience Requirements
- Proven and demonstrable experience as a Laboratory Manager within the same industry or a related field such as testing, chemicals, environmental, or microbial laboratory operations
- Hands-on experience managing laboratory operations including full responsibility for budgeting, QHSE compliance, internal audits, and SOP development and verification
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with Sales or Business Development teams to market, promote, and grow laboratory testing services commercially
Essential Skills
- Strong technical knowledge across chemical, microbiological, and environmental laboratory disciplines and testing methodologies
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse laboratory team in a fast-paced environment
