Position Overview
This Laboratory Team Leader role at Givaudan Dubai places you at the centre of Fine Fragrance Creation and Application science. Reporting to the Fine Fragrance Creative Center Director, you will supervise a dedicated team of laboratory technicians while coordinating the full scope of daily laboratory activities. You will define priorities in alignment with creative, development, and sales needs — bridging technical excellence with commercial outcomes. Your leadership will ensure the lab runs safely, efficiently, and in complete compliance with EH&S, GMP, and ISO standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative innovation.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate the daily activities of both the Application and Creation laboratories to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Define and manage priorities in close alignment with the needs of creative, development, and sales teams.
- Plan, organise, and continually optimise team workload to consistently meet business objectives and delivery timelines.
- Update, maintain, and share all technical documentation, methodologies, and laboratory protocols across the team.
Technical Support & Customer Engagement
- Provide expert technical support to Creation, Development, and Sales teams as well as external customers.
- Act as a key and trusted point of contact for specific customer accounts or strategic projects.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to fragrance stability or application performance.
- Develop thoroughly tested solutions to technical challenges and document findings for future reference.
Team Leadership & People Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of laboratory technicians on a day-to-day basis.
- Support all HR-related processes including performance management, individual development plans, and succession planning.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture firmly focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Engage, motivate, and actively develop team members to reach their full professional potential.
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Ensure all laboratory activities are carried out in full compliance with EH&S (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
- Apply and uphold ISO, GMP, and laboratory best practice requirements across all daily operations.
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised laboratory environment at all times.
- Identify and act on opportunities for process improvement, quality enhancement, and waste reduction in lab workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Fine Fragrance Creative Center Director to align laboratory priorities with business strategy.
- Collaborate with internal creative, development, and commercial teams to support brief completion and project delivery.
- Serve as an internal expert resource bridging laboratory science with the needs of creative and customer-facing teams.
- Share technical knowledge and best practices across Givaudan’s global laboratory network where relevant.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Degree or higher education qualification in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Fragrance Science, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Additional certifications in laboratory management, EH&S, GMP, or ISO standards are a strong advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of relevant hands-on experience in a professional laboratory or technical scientific environment.
- At least 2 years of direct experience leading, supervising, or managing laboratory teams and their performance.
- Strong technical knowledge of fragrances, formulation chemistry, application science, and stability testing methodologies.
Essential Skills
- Solid practical understanding of ISO, GMP, EH&S requirements and laboratory quality best practices.
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills — additional languages are a welcome bonus.
- Confident leadership mindset with proven ability to engage, motivate, coach, and develop laboratory teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative environment.
- Hands-on approach to technical problem solving combined with strong people and project management capabilities.
