Position Overview
The Logistics Supervisor at ALEC Building Abu Dhabi will implement the site logistics plan on the ground from drawings, specifications, and construction sequences — coordinating JiT deliveries, managing site access and traffic control, supervising lifting operations, planning labour and plant through Foremen, overseeing waste management, monitoring Load Gate digital platform usage, leading daily safety briefings and toolbox talks, and mentoring Foremen to deliver the highest standards of construction logistics performance across ALEC’s iconic Abu Dhabi project portfolio. Key Responsibilities
Site Logistics Plan Implementation & Delivery Coordination
- Implement the site logistics plan on the ground from drawings, specifications, and construction sequences — maintaining logistics layouts and laydown areas, allocating areas to contractors, and feeding site changes back to the Logistics Manager and Logistics Coordinator promptly
- Plan and coordinate all site deliveries using Just-in-Time (JiT) principles — controlling site access to prevent congestion, ensuring delivery documents and gate passes are in place, and supervising offloading and storage including oversized and critical items
- Anticipate material needs from upcoming work sequences and raise Purchase Requests (PRs) for logistics consumables including hoist bolts, ramps, and edge protection — ensuring timely approval in line with Delegations of Authority
- Plan and allocate labour and plant through Foremen — optimizing their utilization to support the construction programme and ensuring adequate resource coverage across all active site logistics activities
Lifting Operations Management & Equipment Safety
- Liaise daily with the Appointed Person and Crane Coordinator — reporting lifting changes immediately and managing hoists, ramps, access routes, and the allocation of cranes, forklifts, and telehandlers across all active lifting activities
- Ensure lift plans, certificates, and thorough examinations are current at the time of every lift — overseeing all lifting accessory inspections, documented daily checks, and the immediate quarantine of any defective lifting equipment
- Ensure ground conditions and access routes are confirmed safe before plant is deployed — implementing the traffic plan, supervising flagmen, and ensuring all required signage, barriers, exclusion zones, and pedestrian and vehicle segregation are in place before operations commence
- Track and report plant utilization, fuel consumption, and lifting equipment status — using Load Gate and other digital platforms to verify data for cost control, contra charging, and idle plant identification
HSE Compliance, Safety Leadership & Audits
- Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks, and DSTI (Daily Safety Task Instructions) sessions — ensuring Foremen communicate method statements clearly and accurately to all ground teams before work commences
- Ensure full compliance with site safety, environmental, and HSE standards across all logistics activities — including safe loading, unloading, storage, and housekeeping in line with the project lift plan, waste management plan, and logistics management plan
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits — closing out corrective actions promptly, addressing safety concerns immediately, investigating incidents and near misses, and managing all operational changes before activities commence
- Manage waste in line with the Project Waste Management Plan — championing innovative waste reduction and environmental management pilots as part of ALEC Building’s commitment to sustainable construction practices
Digital Logistics, Reporting & Team Development
- Monitor and champion the use of ALEC’s in-house Load Gate mobile logistics application across the site — training Foremen, Operators, Riggers, and Drivers in its use and ensuring consistent, accurate data recording for plant and resource management
- Lead daily and weekly look-ahead meetings — reporting delays, access issues, resource constraints, and logistics risks clearly and in a timely manner to the Logistics Manager and project team
- Coach and mentor Foremen — setting clear performance expectations, contributing to performance reviews, capturing lessons learned from logistics activities, and implementing continuous improvements across site operations
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and plant vendors on servicing, breakdowns, deliveries, and off-hiring — working collaboratively with Stores, Procurement, Construction, and Project teams to keep all site logistics activities aligned and on schedule
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in an appropriate construction, logistics, civil engineering, or related discipline — or equivalent demonstrated experience in construction site logistics operations at a supervisory level
- Certified Lift Supervisor accreditation or equivalent lifting certification is a plus — additional training or certification in rigging, crane operations, or traffic management is also desirable
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction logistics, material movement, or site operations — including prior experience as a Logistics Engineer (Junior), Logistics Foreman, Lift Supervisor, or equivalent supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of site logistics including delivery coordination, material movement, laydown management, access planning, offloading, and traffic control in a UAE or GCC construction environment
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to quickly adopt and champion new digital apps including Load Gate and other construction logistics tracking platforms
