Position Overview
The Nursery Supervisor at PRT Windsor in Williston, South Carolina, is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing the daily operations of container seedling production from the ground up. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Crop Production Support
- Assist the Nursery Manager with strategic planning and full implementation of seed stratification, field preparation, soil fertilization, soil fumigation, and planting programs
- Oversee all cultural activities required for high-quality seedling production including irrigation management, pesticide and fertilizer applications, and ongoing inventory tracking
- Monitor crop performance throughout all growth stages and identify issues early to protect seedling quality and production targets
- Support implementation of sustainable nursery practices aligned with PRT’s environmental stewardship mission and reforestation goals
Harvest Management & Logistics Coordination
- Manage all aspects of fall harvest operations including finalizing seedling inventories, coordinating contract labor teams, and maintaining strong customer communications throughout
- Ensure accurate harvest records, inventory documentation, and logistics coordination meet both internal standards and customer delivery requirements
- Oversee the scheduling and execution of harvest activities to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality delivery of seedling orders to customers
- Coordinate with the Nursery Manager and operations team on post-harvest planning and preparation for the next production cycle
Equipment, Facilities & Grounds Management
- Maintain all nursery equipment, buildings, and grounds to the highest operational standards to prevent downtime and ensure a safe working environment
- Oversee routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance schedules, and prompt reporting of any equipment faults or safety concerns
- Foster good housekeeping practices across all nursery facilities and grounds to maintain a clean, organized, and professional production environment
- Support procurement and management of supplies, materials, and tools required for uninterrupted daily nursery operations
Team Leadership & Communication
- Foster strong working relationships across the nursery team by communicating with honesty, respect, and a genuine spirit of teamwork at all times
- Lead, motivate, and develop nursery staff through day-to-day supervision, training, and a supportive people-first management approach
- Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, contract labor providers, and internal PRT stakeholders throughout all production phases

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, or a closely related field — or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on operational experience
- Additional training or certifications in pesticide application, irrigation management, or sustainable agriculture are considered a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- Working knowledge of pine seedling nursery or agricultural operations including equipment operation, irrigation systems, soil fertility, and pesticide management
- Strong team leadership and people management experience within a nursery, agricultural, or similar outdoor production environment
- Customer-driven approach with the ability to maintain strong professional relationships with growers, contractors, and end customers
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for inventory reporting, communications, and operational documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English — essential for team leadership, customer engagement, and management reporting
