This full-time, permanent leadership role is responsible for leading and developing the logistics team, ensuring a safe working environment, planning and controlling production lines within the frozen period, managing inventory of finished and semi-finished products, coordinating shipping and truck utilization, collaborating with production and transport planning, driving continuous improvement initiatives and monitoring logistics KPIs. Position Overview
The Plant Logistics Manager (m/w/d) at Tool GmbH in Meppen leads and develops the logistics team, ensures a safe working environment and compliance with all safety guidelines, plans and controls production lines within the frozen period including leading the local scheduling team, organizes optimal inventories of finished and semi-finished products, coordinates shipping including loading time adherence and truck utilization, collaborates closely with production planning, transport planning and maintenance for maximum efficiency, initiates and implements local continuous improvement measures, monitors logistics processes and relevant KPIs and ensures compliance with load securing regulations, customs requirements and quality guidelines — delivering best-in-class plant logistics performance for Sona Arauco’s Tool GmbH facility in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure and promote a consistently safe working environment across all logistics operations at the Meppen plant — enforcing compliance with all applicable safety guidelines, conducting safety assessments and driving a genuine safety-first culture throughout the logistics team’s daily activities.
- Lead the local scheduling team in planning and controlling production lines within the frozen period — ensuring production schedules are correctly translated into logistics resource plans and that all inventory, warehousing and shipping activities are aligned with the production schedule’s requirements.
Inventory, Warehousing & Shipping Coordination
- Organize optimal inventories of finished and semi-finished products across the Meppen facility — applying WMS expertise to maintain accurate stock records, prevent inventory shortfalls or excess and ensure correct warehousing practices that protect product integrity and support production continuity.
- Coordinate shipping operations comprehensively — ensuring adherence to loading times, accurate quantity management per shipment and optimal truck utilization across all outbound logistics movements from the Tool GmbH Meppen plant to downstream customers and distribution points.
- Ensure full compliance with load securing regulations, customs requirements and quality guidelines for all incoming and outgoing shipments — maintaining the regulatory compliance standards that German and EU logistics regulations mandate across Tool GmbH’s transport operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate closely with production planning, transport planning and maintenance teams — ensuring maximum efficiency across the full production-to-delivery supply chain by aligning logistics resources, schedules and priorities with the requirements and constraints of each cross-functional partner.
- Initiate and implement local continuous improvement measures across safety, efficiency, quality and service dimensions of Tool GmbH’s logistics operations — identifying waste, bottlenecks and optimization opportunities and leading their practical implementation through structured CI projects.
- Monitor logistics processes continuously and analyze relevant KPIs — using data-driven performance insights to identify trends, flag issues and drive evidence-based operational improvements that enhance the logistics function’s contribution to Tool GmbH’s overall plant performance and customer service targets.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Completed university degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration or a comparable relevant qualification — providing the academic foundation for strategic logistics management in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Several years of experience in supply chain management or logistics and warehousing — including experience leading larger operational logistics teams in an industrial production environment. APIS certification is an advantage and will be viewed favorably.
- Excellent English language skills — mandatory for this international company role; additional language skills such as Portuguese are a specific advantage for this position at Sona Arauco’s Tool GmbH in Meppen.
