Position Overview
This Quality Control Officer role at a leading food manufacturing company in Jeddah is a hands-on, operationally active quality assurance and control position that plays a critical role in protecting the food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance of a well-established Saudi food manufacturer. You will inspect raw materials, monitor in-process production, test finished products, maintain accurate quality documentation, investigate non-conformities, support CAPA implementation, participate in quality audits, and actively drive continuous improvement across food safety and quality performance. The role requires a food industry professional with a relevant science degree, minimum 2 years of food manufacturing QC experience, strong HACCP and GMP knowledge, good English proficiency, and the attention to detail and analytical rigour that genuine quality assurance requires.
Why This Role Matters: As Quality Control Officer at a leading food manufacturing company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — with HACCP and GMP expertise and a commitment to food safety excellence — you will protect the quality and safety of food products consumed by Saudi families and communities, apply your food science knowledge and QC technical skills in a well-structured, quality-driven manufacturing environment, develop a specialised QC career in Saudi Arabia’s thriving and rapidly growing food manufacturing sector, and contribute to a continuous improvement culture where your attention to detail, analytical capability, and food safety commitment make a genuinely meaningful difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material, In-Process & Finished Product Inspections
- Inspect incoming raw materials and packaging materials at the point of receipt — evaluating physical appearance, labelling accuracy, temperature compliance for chilled or frozen materials, and conformance with purchase specifications before authorising release for production use
- Monitor in-process production quality continuously — conducting line inspections at critical process stages, verifying that production parameters are within approved ranges, and intervening immediately when deviations from approved specifications or food safety controls are identified
- Inspect finished food products prior to release — assessing sensory attributes, weight, packaging integrity, label accuracy, and all measurable product parameters against the approved finished product specifications to ensure every batch released meets customer and regulatory requirements
- Conduct hold and disposition decisions for out-of-specification materials and products — initiating product holds, communicating clearly with production management, and coordinating rework, retest, or disposal actions in accordance with the company’s non-conforming product procedure
Sampling, Testing & Quality Documentation
- Conduct representative product and material sampling in accordance with the company’s approved sampling plans — ensuring statistically meaningful samples are drawn at the correct sampling points and testing frequencies defined by the quality management system
- Perform physical and chemical quality tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products — recording all results accurately and in real time in the designated quality documentation systems or records
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and zero-backlog quality control records — including inspection reports, test results, non-conformance logs, corrective action records, and audit documentation — ensuring full traceability and audit readiness at all times
- Prepare clear, well-structured quality control reports and data summaries for the QA Manager — providing accurate information on daily QC performance, product hold status, CAPA progress, and audit findings that supports management decision-making
GMP, HACCP & Food Safety Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor production floor compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements — conducting regular hygiene and housekeeping inspections, personal hygiene audits, and facility condition checks to maintain the food safety environment required by HACCP principles and food safety regulations
- Verify the monitoring and documentation of HACCP Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Prerequisite Programmes (PRPs) — ensuring all CCP monitoring activities are performed on schedule, recorded correctly, and any deviations from critical limits are escalated and corrected immediately
- Ensure ongoing compliance with KSA food safety regulations and applicable food manufacturing standards — staying informed about regulatory updates and flagging any compliance gaps to the QA Manager for immediate corrective action
- Support the maintenance of food safety management system certifications — contributing accurate documentation, timely record-keeping, and production floor compliance data that supports HACCP certification status and any other applicable food safety standards
Non-Conformance Investigation & CAPA Implementation
- Investigate quality non-conformances and food safety deviations identified during inspections, testing, or customer complaints — conducting structured root cause analysis to identify the underlying cause of each non-conformance with the analytical rigour that effective corrective action requires
- Support the development and implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) — working with production, operations, and quality management to design practical, evidence-based corrective measures that address root causes and prevent recurrence
- Follow up on CAPA implementation — verifying through scheduled verification checks that approved corrective actions have been implemented correctly and are producing the intended improvements in quality and food safety performance
- Document all non-conformances, investigations, and CAPA activities completely and accurately — maintaining a comprehensive non-conformance register that provides management with full visibility of quality issues and the status of corrective action programmes
Quality Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Participate actively in internal quality audits — conducting scheduled audit activities against GMP, HACCP, and quality management system requirements, documenting findings accurately, and supporting the preparation of audit reports and corrective action plans
- Support the preparation and facilitation of external quality audits — including customer audits, SFDA inspections, third-party certification audits, and any other regulatory or standards-based assessments — ensuring the facility is well-prepared, well-documented, and able to demonstrate its food safety and quality management maturity
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in food safety and quality performance — proactively identifying systemic gaps, waste in QC processes, and areas where procedures can be strengthened — and proposing practical, operationally viable improvements that advance the company’s quality standards
- Contribute to a positive, quality-conscious food safety culture across the manufacturing floor — providing practical guidance, conducting toolbox talks, and modelling the professional standards of hygiene, accuracy, and food safety commitment that characterise a genuine quality control professional
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognised accredited university — this educational qualification is a minimum requirement for this Quality Control Officer role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of practical, hands-on quality control experience within the food manufacturing industry — candidates without direct food manufacturing QC experience will not meet the requirements for this role
- Proven working knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and GMP/HACCP principles — applied in a real food manufacturing production environment, not solely in a theoretical or academic context
- Direct experience in raw material inspection, in-process quality monitoring, finished product testing, non-conformance investigation, CAPA implementation, and quality audit participation
Skills
- Good command of English — both written and spoken — required for quality documentation, technical report writing, audit participation, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — the ability to interpret QC testing data, conduct structured root cause analysis, and develop evidence-based corrective action recommendations
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuine, deeply held commitment to food safety and product quality — the non-negotiable personal qualities that define an effective Quality Control professional in food manufacturing
- Clear, professional communication and reporting skills — the ability to write accurate quality reports, communicate non-conformances clearly to production management, and present quality data in a structured, actionable format
