Position Overview

The Supply Chain Planner / Dispatcher / Production Planner at RCP Ranstadt is a comprehensive and operationally important planning role covering the full supply chain cycle from raw material procurement through production scheduling to customer order confirmation and delivery. You will plan and monitor personnel and machine capacities across machine groups; procure raw materials, packaging materials, and auxiliary operating materials; create detailed and rough production plans; manage customer order inventories with capital minimization in mind; enter, maintain, and confirm customer orders in the ERP system; and communicate regularly and professionally with customers and suppliers — all in a dynamic, growth-oriented FMCG flexible packaging manufacturing environment.

Why This Role Matters: As Supply Chain Planner at RCP Ranstadt, your production schedules and capacity plans determine whether major FMCG brands and retail customers receive their flexible packaging orders — wet wipes, sachets, pouches, and jars — on time, in full, and to specification. Your raw material procurement timing, ERP order accuracy, and machine capacity planning are the operational foundation on which RCP’s manufacturing performance, customer satisfaction, and growth ambitions rest every single working day.

Key Responsibilities

Capacity Planning — Personnel & Machine Groups

  • Plan and continuously monitor personnel and machine capacities across the relevant machine groups at RCP Ranstadt — ensuring production resources are optimally allocated to meet customer order schedules, minimize idle time, and respond effectively to demand fluctuations and priority changes
  • Identify capacity bottlenecks and constraints in advance — developing practical solutions including workload rebalancing, overtime scheduling, or production sequence adjustments to protect delivery commitments without compromising production efficiency
  • Work closely with Production Management to align capacity plans with actual machine availability, maintenance schedules, and workforce planning — ensuring production plans remain realistic, achievable, and regularly updated

Production Planning — Detailed & Rough Scheduling

  • Create comprehensive production plans in both detailed and rough planning horizons — translating customer order requirements, sales forecasts, and inventory targets into clear, actionable production schedules that drive efficient use of RCP Ranstadt’s manufacturing capacity
  • Sequence and prioritize production orders across machine groups — balancing customer delivery urgency, changeover efficiency, material availability, and production run length optimization to maximize throughput and on-time delivery performance
  • Update production plans dynamically in response to order changes, production deviations, material shortages, or capacity shifts — maintaining plan accuracy and communicating changes proactively to relevant production and logistics stakeholders

Raw Material & Packaging Material Procurement

  • Procure all required raw materials, packaging materials, and order-related auxiliary and operating materials — placing purchase orders with approved suppliers at the right time and in the right quantities to support production plans while minimizing unnecessary inventory and tied-up capital
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance against confirmed purchase order dates — proactively following up on open orders, managing delays or shortages, and coordinating alternative supply solutions when required to protect production continuity
  • Support supplier relationship management by communicating delivery requirements clearly, flagging quality or delivery issues professionally, and contributing to supplier performance discussions with the procurement team

Customer Order Management & ERP Operations

  • Enter, maintain, and confirm all customer orders accurately in the ERP system — ensuring all order data including quantities, delivery dates, specifications, and priority levels is correctly recorded and kept up to date throughout the order lifecycle
  • Manage the inventory of customer orders with a clear focus on minimizing tied-up capital — balancing stock holdings, production batch sizes, and delivery schedules to optimize working capital efficiency while maintaining required service levels
  • Communicate proactively with customers and suppliers — providing delivery confirmations, order status updates, delay notifications, and change management communications in German and English in a professional, solution-oriented manner

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Completed commercial vocational training (kaufmännische Ausbildung) or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Industrial Management — ideally with a focus on supply chain, procurement, or production planning

Experience Requirements

  • Several years of experience in supply chain planning, production planning, or dispatching — ideally gained within the manufacturing industry, and particularly in FMCG, packaging, consumer goods, or a related production-intensive sector
  • Practical experience with ERP systems for production planning, order management, inventory control, and procurement — SAP, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar enterprise resource planning platforms

Skills & Attributes

  • Solid IT proficiency — ERP systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) — for planning data analysis, reporting, and supply chain documentation
  • Good language skills in German and English — required for daily communication with customers, suppliers, and internal production teams at RCP Ranstadt
  • Analytically minded and structured in approach — able to manage complex planning data, identify patterns, and make sound supply chain decisions under time pressure
  • Motivated team player with strong communication skills and assertiveness — comfortable working across functions and representing supply chain requirements clearly and confidently
