Position Overview
This Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician role involves performing assigned tasks and escalating issues during high-volume activity, coordinating with suppliers on warranty claims and RMA processing, developing working knowledge of stock control and inventory management, ensuring accurate documentation of deliveries and records, performing cycle audits and data corrections, reconciling inventory discrepancies, and supporting data bearing device destruction under Microsoft policies and SLAs.

Key Responsibilities
Task Execution & Escalation
- Perform assigned tasks and escalate issues during high-volume or escalation-based situations
- Work under guidance of more experienced Data Center colleagues
Warranty & RMA Processing
- Coordinate with suppliers to initiate warranty claims and process failed vendor hardware devices
- Handle information processing, packaging, shipment and receipt of return for RMA devices per SLAs
Inventory Management & Documentation
- Develop working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices
- Ensure accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing deliveries and records
- Perform cycle audits and data corrections to ensure inventory controls are met
- Help reconcile and report inventory discrepancies, and ensure detailed physical inventory tracking
Data Security & Compliance
- Support destruction of data bearing devices (DBD) following SLAs and Microsoft policies, under supervision
- Comply with all security and data management policies
- Become familiar with Microsoft’s contractual guidelines with suppliers and maintain strong customer focus
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma AND experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management or a related field, OR equivalent experience
Background Check Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years’ experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment, IT and/or logistics
- Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation, or equivalent experience
