Key Responsibilities

QC Team Supervision & Daily Lab Operations

  • Supervise QC technicians directly — ensuring proper, consistent execution of all testing and inspection activities for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished dairy products in accordance with Agropur’s established quality standards
  • Oversee all daily sampling and testing activities across the laboratory — ensuring full alignment with the plant’s quality plan and rigorous adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and HACCP/Food Safety Plan Process Controls
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends related to quality control — including laboratory efficiency metrics, product performance data, and testing accuracy results — to drive continuous quality improvement across the facility
  • Ensure preventative maintenance and replacement programs for all laboratory equipment are properly maintained — and that all laboratory safety standards are consistently met and documented

Documentation, CAPA & Root Cause Analysis

  • Manage all quality control documentation comprehensively — including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), testing reports, calibration records, electronic system records, and all other required quality documentation
  • Provide supporting analytical work for root cause investigations — identifying the underlying causes of non-conforming products or laboratory-related process failures and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Track and manage all corrective and preventive actions through to verified closure — ensuring non-conformances are fully resolved and recurrence is systematically prevented across all QC operations
  • Provide feedback regarding testing capabilities integrated with product specification requirements — supporting new product development and process improvement initiatives with relevant quality data and analytical insights

Audit Leadership & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead internal quality and food safety audits across the Hull, Iowa facility — planning, conducting, and documenting audits in full alignment with GMP, HACCP, SQF, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Prepare the site for all external audits — including customer audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party certifications — ensuring the facility is consistently audit-ready and all required evidence is organized and accessible

  • Train and mentor QC technicians and laboratory staff — ensuring all team members are proficient in testing protocols, quality procedures, food safety standards, and safe laboratory practices
  • Collaborate effectively with production, operations, and management teams to resolve quality issues promptly and constructively — driving a culture of quality ownership and food safety accountability across the facility
  • Provide analytical expertise and quality insights that support production improvement initiatives — integrating quality data with production decisions to enhance product consistency and food safety performance
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that strengthen quality compliance, improve laboratory efficiency, and advance Agropur’s food safety culture across the Hull manufacturing site

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field — required as the minimum educational qualification. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered
  • HACCP certification is preferred — candidates holding current HACCP certification will receive priority consideration for this Lab Supervisor role
