Position Overview
The Hygiene Officer at Target Engineering Abu Dhabi will play a key role in ensuring camp hygiene, food safety management, and full HSE compliance across all site facilities within a large-scale oil and gas EPC project environment. You will implement and maintain Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and HACCP systems in camp and catering environments, conduct regular audits of kitchens, dining facilities, laundry services, and recreational areas, monitor food suppliers and raw materials, deliver food safety training to food handlers, maintain HACCP documentation, support HSE site inspections and incident investigations, and ensure compliance with PTW, Risk Assessment, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Hygiene System Implementation & HACCP Management
- Implement and maintain Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and HACCP systems across all camp and catering environments within the EPC project site
- Maintain comprehensive HACCP documentation and all compliance records — ensuring full audit readiness at all times for internal and external project inspections
- Monitor food suppliers and raw material quality — verifying that all incoming food products and catering ingredients meet the required hygiene, safety, and specification standards
- Conduct regular hygiene audits of kitchens and dining facilities, laundry services, and recreational and welfare facilities across the project camp site
Food Safety Training & Awareness
- Deliver food safety and hygiene training programs to all food handlers and catering staff — ensuring comprehensive understanding and consistent application of food safety practices
- Conduct worker induction and food safety awareness sessions for new site arrivals — building a strong camp hygiene culture from day one of every worker’s site induction
- Develop and update food safety training materials in line with current HACCP standards, project-specific requirements, and UAE food safety regulatory frameworks
- Assess trainee comprehension and monitor the consistent application of food safety practices across kitchen, dining, and catering operations following training delivery
HSE Support, Site Inspections & Incident Management
- Support HSE initiatives across the project site — participating in site inspections, safety walks, and worker awareness sessions that maintain a high-standard health and safety culture
- Manage incident reporting and investigations related to hygiene, food safety, and camp welfare — identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure full compliance with HSE plans, welfare procedures, and emergency response protocols across all camp and catering operations throughout the EPC project lifecycle
- Participate actively in the implementation of Permit to Work (PTW), Risk Assessment, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) frameworks within the project site environment
Camp Facility Auditing & Compliance Monitoring
- Conduct systematic and regular compliance audits of all camp facilities — kitchens, dining halls, laundry units, welfare areas, and recreational spaces — documenting findings and follow-up actions
- Monitor camp hygiene standards continuously — ensuring all facility areas consistently meet the highest possible standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety compliance
- Generate detailed hygiene audit reports and compliance documentation for project management, client, and regulatory review on a regular and structured basis
- Escalate non-conformances, hygiene risks, or safety concerns promptly to project HSE management — supporting rapid corrective action and sustained compliance improvement
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field — food science, environmental health, occupational health and safety, or equivalent
- Level 3 Award in HACCP and Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety are required for this role
- NEBOSH IGC or an equivalent HSE certification is strongly preferred — candidates holding this qualification will be prioritized
- H2S safety certification and knowledge of hazardous materials management in oil and gas environments is a preferred advantage
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HSE roles with a strong background in camp hygiene and food safety management
- Minimum 1 year of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or EPC project environments — ideally in camp hygiene or site HSE officer roles
- Hands-on experience in construction, commissioning, or operations environments within the UAE or wider GCC region is a significant professional advantage
