Position Overview

This Assistant Food Safety Manager role at Nestlé’s Dubai factory is a full-time, on-site position that sits at the heart of the factory’s food safety and quality assurance operations. Working directly alongside the Factory Quality Assurance Manager, you will take ownership of implementing and continuously improving the Food Safety Management System in line with FSSC 22000, HACCP, and Dubai Municipality Food Code requirements. The role spans training delivery, digital HACCP management, allergen and foreign body control, pathogen monitoring, Good Manufacturing Practice audits, and cross-functional project support. Key Responsibilities

Food Safety Culture & Awareness

  • Promote food safety awareness across the entire factory and actively contribute to building food safety competence across all functions
  • Support the Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) programme in the pursuit of zero defects, including leading root cause analysis after food safety incidents
  • Ensure benchmarking and sharing of food safety best practices across the factory and wider Nestlé network
  • Champion a culture of food safety ownership at every level of the factory workforce through engagement and leadership

FSSC 22000 & Food Safety Management System

  • Coordinate the implementation of FSSC 22000 specific requirements and apply the continuous improvement cycle to the overall Food Safety Management System
  • Establish and manage digital HACCP studies and all HACCP-related activities including validation, verification, and reviews across all product categories
  • Ensure HACCP documentation remains fully up to date and compliant with the Dubai Municipality Food Code and applicable local regulations
  • Support compliance with Nestlé Quality Management System and Nestlé Food Safety Management System requirements and applicable global standards

Allergen & Foreign Body Management

  • Coordinate all foreign body prevention and management activities including incident investigations and detection and rejection equipment management
  • Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and working instructions for allergen management, foreign body checklists, and related prerequisite programmes
  • Ensure proper cascading of allergen and foreign body SOPs to all relevant factory stakeholders and departments
  • Verify that allergen management controls are effectively implemented and consistently maintained across all production lines

Training & Competence Development

  • Deliver structured training programmes covering Basic Food Hygiene, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergen Management, and Foreign Body Prevention
  • Develop and update training materials aligned with current FSSC 22000, Dubai Municipality Food Code, and Nestlé internal standards
  • Support the competence development of food safety capabilities across all factory functions through coaching and practical guidance
  • Track training completion, assess understanding, and identify gaps to ensure a fully competent and food-safety-aware workforce

Audits, Monitoring & Project Support

  • Conduct Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits and verifications of HACCP compliance, allergen management, and foreign body prevention across the factory
  • Manage overall pathogen monitoring in the factory to ensure compliance with internal Nestlé requirements and local regulatory standards
  • Support the implementation of the Food Defense Plan in coordination with all relevant factory and corporate stakeholders
  • Support the project management process by ensuring food safety requirements are incorporated from early-stage new product and process development through all project stages

 Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent — Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, or a closely related discipline is strongly preferred
  • Formal training or certification in FSSC 22000, HACCP, or food safety management systems is a significant advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing food safety and quality assurance programmes in FMCG, manufacturing, or related environments
  • Experience participating in project teams, improvement initiatives, and audit activities alongside senior food safety professionals
  • Background in establishing professional networks within factories or cross-market food safety teams is highly desirable
  • Prior exposure to allergen management, foreign body prevention, pathogen monitoring, or food defense planning is a strong asset

Essential Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of FSSC 22000, HACCP principles, GMP auditing, and food safety management systems
  • Excellent communication, training delivery, and stakeholder engagement skills across multicultural factory teams
  • Analytical, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to completion
  • Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple food safety workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
