Position Overview
Invited is hiring a professional Horticulturist in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, to maintain and enhance the golf course landscapes and clubhouse gardens at one of America’s leading private clubs. This hands-on outdoor role covers both routine horticultural maintenance and specialized landscape tasks — including operating powered mowing equipment, applying fertilizers and pesticides, pruning trees and shrubbery, planting and maintaining woody plant materials and flowerbeds, and calibrating spraying equipment for precise treatment application. You will report to the Equipment Manager or Superintendent and play a direct role in ensuring the club’s grounds reflect the very highest standards of beauty and quality.

Key Responsibilities
Golf Course & Landscape Maintenance
- Operate powered equipment including grass mowers, tractors, and blowers for professional mowing and routine maintenance of golf course turf and clubhouse landscape areas
- Plant, establish, and maintain woody plant materials, flowering plants, and ornamental flowerbeds across the clubhouse, golf course, and common areas throughout the season
- Trim trees, prune shrubbery, and cultivate shrubs and flowers regularly to enhance the visual appeal and long-term health of all landscape plantings across the property
- Maintain the overall aesthetic integrity of the golf course and surrounding landscape areas to meet the exceptional standards expected at a premier private country club in Texas
Fertilization, Pest Control & Chemical Application
- Water, fertilize, and apply pesticides to flowerbeds and shrubbery around the clubhouse using appropriate methods, rates, and timing to support healthy, vibrant plant growth
- Operate and calibrate spraying equipment accurately to ensure precise, consistent application of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other horticultural treatments across the property
- Follow all chemical application safety protocols, label requirements, and regulatory guidelines to ensure the protection of members, guests, staff, and the surrounding environment
- Monitor plant health across all landscape zones and proactively identify pest, disease, or nutrient deficiency issues before they impact the club’s appearance or plant vitality
Equipment Operation & Site Care
- Safely operate a full range of horticultural equipment including construction tools such as shovels, axes, and sledgehammers alongside gardening tools including pruners, rakes, hedge shears, and trimmers
- Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and cleaning to ensure all grounds care equipment remains in safe, fully operational condition throughout the working season
- Adapt to physically demanding outdoor work conditions including frequent exposure to extreme Texas heat, humidity, and variable weather throughout the year with resilience and professionalism
- Safely manage lifting and carrying of materials up to 100 lbs., climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and other physical tasks essential to daily horticultural operations
Team Support & Professional Standards
- Attend daily briefings and actively participate in team activities, contributing positively to the groundskeeping team’s collective effort and the club’s overall landscape excellence
- Follow all company, club, and department policies, safety procedures, and management instructions while maintaining a consistently high level of professionalism with members and colleagues
- Support fellow team members as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management to ensure the smooth, seamless daily operation of the club’s grounds and landscape programs
- Take personal initiative in ongoing professional growth, maintaining any required horticultural, pesticide application, or safety certifications relevant to this role in Texas
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required — additional coursework or certifications in horticulture, landscape management, agronomy, or turf science are a professional advantage
- Pesticide applicator certification or relevant Texas landscape/groundskeeping certifications are considered a meaningful plus for this role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, greenhouse management, or groundskeeping in a professional outdoor environment
- Demonstrated experience operating powered landscape equipment including mowers, tractors, and chemical spraying equipment safely and effectively
- Prior experience in a golf course, private club, resort, or high-end landscape environment is a significant advantage for this Texas country club position
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work primarily outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme Texas heat, cold temperatures, humidity, and variable seasonal weather conditions throughout the year
- Physical capacity for sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, and lifting or carrying up to 100 lbs.
- Comfortable maintaining physical stamina and safe working practices throughout full outdoor working shifts across golf course and clubhouse landscape environments
