Position Overview
This Electrical Engineer – CxA (Data Centre) role at Core Group ME in Abu Dhabi is built for a seasoned commissioning professional who thrives on technical precision and stakeholder coordination. The Commissioning Engineer leads verification, testing, and validation activities across the full L2–L5 commissioning lifecycle — from installation readiness checks through to integrated systems testing and client acceptance — ensuring every electrical system within mission-critical facilities performs exactly as designed before going live.

Key Responsibilities
L2 — Installation Verification
- Lead verification of installation readiness across assigned electrical systems and areas within data centre facilities
- Review and approve installation checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements prior to commissioning progression
- Ensure all installations fully meet defined commissioning entry criteria before advancing to the next testing stage
L3 — Individual Element Commissioning
- Plan and witness commissioning of individual items of electrical plant and equipment within mission-critical environments
- Verify correct operation, settings, controls, and protection systems for each commissioned element
- Confirm operational stability before progression into broader system-level functional testing
L4 — System Functional Testing
- Coordinate and witness comprehensive system functional tests across integrated electrical infrastructure
- Verify sequences of operation and confirm accurate system responses under simulated operational conditions
- Confirm full compliance with design intent and stated operational requirements for each tested system
L5 — Integrated Systems Testing & Client Acceptance
- Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST) activities across multiple interdependent electrical and critical infrastructure systems
- Validate resilience and recovery outcomes for assigned systems under fault and failover scenarios
- Assist directly in client demonstrations and final acceptance activities, ensuring stakeholder confidence in system readiness
Authority, Decision-Making & Performance
- Approve progression between commissioning stages within clearly defined scope of authority
- Recommend formal acceptance or rejection of test results based on technical evidence and documented standards
- Maintain technical accuracy and robustness of testing while ensuring timely issue resolution and close-out
- Produce complete, high-quality technical documentation supporting every stage of the commissioning process
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 5–8 years of commissioning experience within mission-critical or complex facilities — this experience range is mandatory
- Proven, demonstrable Data Centre or critical infrastructure exposure is an absolute requirement — candidates without this background will not be considered
Essential Skills
- Strong technical documentation skills, including ITPs, Method Statements, and commissioning test records
- Excellent coordination skills for managing multi-stakeholder commissioning activities across engineering, client, and contractor teams
- Sound technical judgement to assess test results and confidently recommend acceptance or rejection outcomes
- Ability to balance hands-on technical delivery with structured documentation and stakeholder communication responsibilities
Performance Measures
- Technical Accuracy: Robustness and precision of all commissioning testing activities performed
- Issue Resolution: Speed and effectiveness of identifying and closing out technical issues during commissioning
