Key Responsibilities
Production Line QC Supervision & Product Release
- Supervise quality control activities across all Kinza production lines — leading the QC team’s in-process monitoring activities, verifying that production is conducted in compliance with approved product specifications, manufacturing procedures, and applicable food safety standards at every stage of the beverage production cycle from raw material intake through filling, packaging, and palletisation
- Monitor product quality during manufacturing — conducting and overseeing in-process quality checks at defined sampling frequencies, evaluating physical, chemical, and sensory parameters against in-process control limits, identifying deviations from specification promptly, and coordinating with production supervisors to implement immediate corrective actions when in-process quality results fall outside approved control limits
- Support finished-goods inspection and product release decisions — reviewing final QC test results against finished product specifications, evaluating inspection findings across the key quality attributes for each product, and making or supporting well-reasoned release or hold decisions that protect both product quality and the production schedule
- Manage quality holds and non-conforming product dispositions — ensuring that products placed on quality hold are correctly identified, physically segregated, and clearly labelled, coordinating the investigation and disposition process efficiently, and implementing approved disposition decisions (rework, retest, or reject) through the correct quality management system procedure
Laboratory Testing Oversight & Quality Analysis
- Oversee all QC laboratory testing activities — ensuring that raw material, in-process, and finished product testing is conducted accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with validated test methods and approved QC sampling plans, and that all laboratory test results are recorded completely and correctly in the quality management system
- Maintain laboratory equipment, testing instruments, and reference standards in correctly calibrated, well-functioning condition — ensuring that calibration schedules are followed, calibration records are maintained accurately, any out-of-calibration condition is identified and rectified promptly, and that only correctly calibrated and validated equipment is used in QC testing activities that support product release decisions
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of QC laboratory records — reviewing test data entries for correctness, ensuring that all required testing has been completed before products are released, and maintaining the documentation discipline and data integrity standards that FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 audit requirements demand
- Analyse quality control data to identify trends and patterns — applying statistical quality tools and performance trend analysis to identify emerging product quality risks, raw material quality variability, or process performance shifts before they result in non-conforming product, and escalating significant quality trends to the QA Manager with supporting data and recommended actions
Non-Conformity Investigation, Customer Complaints & CAPA
- Investigate non-conforming products, process deviations, and quality system failures — conducting structured root cause analysis using proven investigation methodologies (5-Why, Ishikawa / fishbone analysis, or fault tree analysis as appropriate), documenting findings accurately and completely, and developing corrective and preventive action plans that address the underlying root cause of each non-conformance
- Investigate customer complaints related to product quality, food safety, foreign material, or sensory defects — gathering all relevant production, testing, and supply chain information, conducting thorough technical investigations, preparing professional complaint investigation reports, and coordinating corrective actions with production, technical, and supply chain teams to prevent recurrence
- Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions — coordinating with production, maintenance, procurement, and QA teams to ensure that agreed CAPA actions are clearly communicated, implemented within required timelines, and verified as effective through follow-up quality monitoring, re-inspection, or targeted process observation
- Maintain accurate records of all non-conformance investigations, complaint investigations, and CAPA activities — ensuring that investigation files are complete, traceability of affected products is documented, and all CAPA closure evidence is recorded in the quality management system in a format that satisfies FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 corrective action documentation requirements
FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO 22000 & GMP Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification), HACCP principles, ISO 22000 food safety management system requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards across all QC-related activities and the production environment — maintaining awareness of current standard requirements and proactively supporting the quality and food safety management activities needed to sustain certification and audit readiness
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready quality records across all QC functions — including HACCP CCP monitoring records, in-process and finished product test data, equipment calibration logs, non-conformance records, CAPA documentation, training records, and all other quality management documentation required to demonstrate compliance with FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and GMP standards during certification audits or regulatory inspections
- Prepare for and actively support internal and external quality and food safety audits — ensuring that production areas, laboratory facilities, QC records, and team practices are at audit-ready standard at all times, coordinating audit activities with the QA Manager, and participating in audit response and corrective action planning activities following audit findings
- Collaborate with the QA team on the continuous maintenance and improvement of the food safety management system — contributing QC floor-level operational experience and quality data insights to system reviews, hazard analyses updates, prerequisite programme assessments, and quality management system improvement initiatives
QC Team Leadership, Development & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, supervise, and develop the QC inspection and technician team — planning shift schedules, assigning inspection activities, setting clear performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing ongoing coaching, training, and development support that builds the team’s technical QC capability, food safety knowledge, and professional accountability
- Train QC inspectors and technicians on quality procedures, testing methods, HACCP requirements, GMP standards, and food safety practices — ensuring that every QC team member has the knowledge, skills, and practical capability to perform their inspection and testing responsibilities accurately, consistently, and with the professional discipline that FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 compliance requires
- Collaborate with Production and QA teams on continuous improvement initiatives — contributing QC floor data, quality trend analysis, and practical operational insight to improvement projects that target waste reduction, process capability enhancement, rework minimisation, and the strengthening of quality and food safety performance across Kinza’s beverage manufacturing operations
- Drive operational excellence and accountability within the QC function — establishing and maintaining the high professional standards, documentation discipline, and results-oriented team culture that enables Kinza’s quality department to consistently deliver its quality protection and compliance obligations across all production shifts and all product lines
