The CDU Engineer at EFS Facilities Services Dubai is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and peak performance of Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) systems within mission-critical data centre environments. This shift-based role focuses on maintaining maximum system availability, executing planned preventive maintenance and urgent corrective maintenance, monitoring temperature control and operational efficiency, troubleshooting system failures, coordinating with vendors and OEMs, and maintaining comprehensive logs and maintenance records. Key Responsibilities
CDU System Operation & Performance Monitoring
- Operate and maintain CDU systems and all associated cooling infrastructure to ensure continuous, reliable performance within mission-critical data centre environments
- Monitor system performance, temperature control parameters, and operational efficiency on an ongoing basis — identifying and addressing anomalies before they escalate
- Proactively track CDU system health, fluid flow rates, pressure levels, and cooling capacity to prevent performance degradation or unexpected failures
- Support real-time operational decisions during critical incidents, escalating issues to the appropriate team and vendors without delay
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance (PPM) activities on CDU systems and cooling infrastructure as per defined maintenance schedules and OEM requirements
- Execute corrective maintenance tasks swiftly and accurately to resolve system failures and restore full operational performance with minimal downtime
- Troubleshoot and resolve CDU system failures, performance issues, and alarms using structured diagnostic approaches and strong technical problem-solving skills
- Coordinate with operations teams, vendors, and OEM representatives for specialised technical system support and escalated maintenance activities
Safety, SLA Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure full compliance with safety standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and client service level agreements (SLAs) across all CDU maintenance and operational activities
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs, operational reports, and system performance records in line with EFS documentation requirements
- Support audits, technical inspections, and critical incident management activities as required by the client or management team
- Follow all site safety protocols and risk management procedures — maintaining a zero-harm approach in every maintenance and operational task performed
Vendor & OEM Coordination
- Liaise directly with vendors, OEM representatives, and specialist contractors for technical support, spare parts, and scheduled maintenance visits
- Verify the quality of vendor and OEM work performed on CDU systems and ensure all activities meet EFS and client technical standards
- Coordinate equipment procurement and spare parts management to maintain adequate critical spares inventory for CDU and cooling system maintenance
- Provide technical input during vendor selection and service contract reviews related to CDU and cooling infrastructure management
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related technical discipline
Experience Requirements
- 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in data centre operations, critical cooling systems, or high-availability facilities management environments
- Strong practical knowledge of CDU systems, HVAC systems, and chilled water infrastructure as applied in mission-critical or data centre settings
- Prior experience in mission-critical or high-availability FM environments is strongly preferred for this role

- Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills — able to diagnose and resolve CDU system failures quickly and effectively under operational pressure
