This Designer Trainee role at IFF Dubai is a hands-on, full-time entry-level position open to students currently pursuing or who have recently completed a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline. You will support research and design activities with a specific focus on emulsion systems — conducting testing, documenting results, collecting and analyzing data, preparing samples, and contributing to the development and optimization of emulsion-based solutions used in IFF’s global customer offerings. Key Responsibilities
Research & Design Support — Emulsion Systems
- Support research and design activities within the emulsion systems focus area through hands-on technical assistance and laboratory contribution
- Contribute to the development and optimization of emulsion-based solutions by assisting in formulation trials, ingredient evaluation, and prototype preparation
- Prepare samples and support all lab and design-related tasks required by the technical team throughout each project phase
- Assist in the identification and evaluation of new emulsion formulation approaches that align with IFF’s innovation strategy and customer solution requirements
Testing, Data Collection & Analysis
- Conduct technical testing on emulsion systems and related samples, recording all results accurately and with full attention to experimental detail
- Assist in the systematic collection, organization, and analysis of research and design data to support project conclusions and performance optimization
- Document all testing procedures, observations, and results in clear, accurate, and professionally structured laboratory records and reports
- Use data analysis tools and technical equipment to interpret results and support evidence-based product development recommendations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate actively with cross-functional teams across research, design, quality, and commercial functions on ongoing IFF projects in Dubai
- Communicate findings, progress, and observations clearly and professionally to team leads and mentors in both written and verbal formats
- Contribute a proactive, team-oriented attitude to every project interaction — bringing curiosity, energy, and a willingness to learn to every collaboration
- Support knowledge sharing within the team by documenting learnings, observations, and technical insights from each project activity
Protocols, Safety & Quality Standards
- Follow all established laboratory protocols, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements throughout every testing and sample preparation activity
- Maintain compliance with IFF’s quality standards and documentation requirements across all research and design support activities
- Handle laboratory equipment, chemicals, and emulsion samples safely and responsibly in accordance with workplace health and safety guidelines
- Demonstrate a committed, detail-oriented approach to safety, accuracy, and quality in all laboratory and design tasks undertaken during the traineeship
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a closely related discipline
- Strong academic interest in product development, formulation science, emulsion technology, or research and design work in the food or ingredient industry
