Senior Electrical Design Engineer: Senior-level — leading electrical system design on complex MEP and infrastructure projects across the UAE and MENA

ELV Design Engineer: Specialist in Extra Low Voltage systems — CCTV, access control, fire alarm, BMS, structured cabling, and security systems

Senior ELV Design Engineer: Senior ELV specialist — leading integrated ELV system design for major commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & ELV System Design

  • Design comprehensive electrical and ELV systems for commercial, residential, infrastructure, and industrial projects — producing technically rigorous solutions that comply with UAE authority requirements and international design standards
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and system layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks — ensuring all documentation meets GHD quality standards and client deliverable requirements
  • Design power distribution systems, lighting systems, earthing and bonding networks, emergency power, and ELV systems — applying up-to-date knowledge of UAE electrical codes and DEWA/ADDC technical standards throughout
  • Develop and review electrical and ELV system specifications, technical schedules, and equipment datasheets — supporting procurement, tender, and construction phases with accurate, complete technical documentation

Electrical Calculations & Technical Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive electrical engineering calculations — including load analysis, maximum demand assessment, short-circuit fault level analysis, voltage drop calculations, and cable sizing using industry-standard software
  • Perform power systems analysis and equipment selection — specifying transformers, switchboards, distribution boards, UPS systems, generators, and protection devices aligned with project-specific load requirements and authority standards
  • Apply knowledge of embedded systems, control systems, and power distribution principles to design integrated electrical solutions that meet both functional performance and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Use specialist electrical design software — AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent platforms — for design calculation verification, schematic development, and technical documentation production

Authority Compliance — DEWA, ADDC & UAE Fire Code

  • Ensure full compliance of all electrical and ELV designs with applicable UAE authority requirements — including DEWA (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority), ADDC (Abu Dhabi Distribution Company), and UAE Fire Code regulations
  • Prepare and manage authority submission packages — assembling complete, accurate, and professionally presented technical documentation for electrical design approval by UAE regulatory authorities

  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and infrastructure discipline engineers during design phases — resolving spatial conflicts, coordinating service routes, and ensuring fully integrated MEP design solutions
  • Use Navisworks and BIM coordination platforms to identify and resolve cross-discipline clashes — contributing to GHD’s commitment to delivering accurate, constructable, and clash-free design packages
  • Liaise professionally with suppliers and contractors to ensure design integrity throughout construction — reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and technical submittals against GHD’s design intent and project specifications
  • Support tender documentation preparation — contributing to bills of quantities, technical specifications, and scope of works documents that enable accurate contractor pricing and compliant construction delivery

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and accredited university — mandatory educational requirement for all Electrical and ELV Design Engineer applicants at GHD
