Programme Overview

This Field Service Engineer (Early Career) programme at GE Vernova Grid Solutions in Abu Dhabi supports senior GE Vernova engineers across protection relay and panel modification works, substation automation systems, DCS/SCS and RTU configuration, IEC61850 IED signal mapping, SCADA signal coordination, SCS system installation including fibre optic layout and PC installation, production document support, CT/VT adequacy checks, relay setting calculations, project milestone tracking, and workplace EHS coordination — all within a 12-month structured learning programme.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Documentation

  • Support GEV engineers in preparing Signal Lists from Schematics and applicable documents
  • Support engineering and field service works: Protection Relays, Panel Modification, Protection Logic Diagrams, GA/LA, Bill of Materials, Protection/SCMS/LCC Schematics, SCMS/Cyber Security Architectures, SCMS Signal Lists, Cable Schedules, Control Desk Drawings, IEC61850 Signal Mapping
  • Support all Production Documents — Wiring Tables, Label Lists, Cable Schedules, and Interpanel Wiring Files
  • Perform CT/VT Adequacy Checks and relay setting calculations

Substation Automation & Field Services

  • Support GEV engineers for field services activity on Substation Automation Systems including DCS/SCS, RTU, and Cyber Security
  • Support all technical activities for assigned projects including EHS coordination and site works
  • Coordinate and record tests for digital inputs, controls, measurements, interlocks, IEC61850 IEDs, SCADA signals, and SCS functionalities

SCS Installation & Project Delivery

  • Support installation of SCS systems at site — fibre optic layout, PC installation at panels, SCS console wiring, installation, and testing
  • Follow project planning to ensure timely achievement of milestones per project schedule
  • Coordinate workplace EHS issues and ensure availability of suitable PPE for all T&C personnel

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Machine Power, Electrical Power, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Control & Instrumentation, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, Cybersecurity, or Artificial Intelligence from an accredited university

Experience Requirements

  • Fresh graduates with up to 2 years of experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Fluent in English — written and spoken
