Position Overview
This Food Quality & Safety Supervisor role at GMG Group in Sharjah is a senior, hands-on quality control leadership position within the Logistics Division’s Distribution Centre (DC) operations. You will take full responsibility for implementing and monitoring food safety standards and quality control guidelines across the DC — conducting routine and unannounced on-site inspections of inbound goods, storage conditions, and outbound dispatch processes, monitoring compliance with HACCP and FSSC 22000, delivering food safety training, conducting product sampling and testing, investigating non-conformances, supporting external audits, and maintaining comprehensive, audit-ready quality documentation. Key Responsibilities
Food Safety Standards Implementation & Compliance Monitoring
- Ensure food safety standards and quality control guidelines are effectively implemented and consistently followed across all Distribution Centre operations — covering inbound goods receipt, cold storage and ambient storage management, and outbound dispatch processes
- Monitor ongoing compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), FSSC 22000, and all other relevant food safety certifications and regulatory standards applicable to GMG’s distribution and food handling operations in the UAE
- Stay continuously informed about regulatory changes, updates to food safety legislation, and evolving industry best practices — proactively integrating new requirements and standards into GMG’s DC quality control procedures and compliance framework
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities to manage food product registrations and regulatory approvals in accordance with applicable UAE food safety laws and regulations — maintaining accurate records of all regulatory submissions and approvals
On-Site Inspections & Quality Audits
- Perform comprehensive on-site inspections across all stages of Distribution Centre operations — inbound goods receipt verification, storage condition monitoring (temperature, humidity, hygiene), and outbound dispatch quality checks — ensuring consistent compliance with operational guidelines
- Conduct routine and unannounced quality control inspections and food safety audits — verifying adherence to food handling procedures, storage standards, FIFO rotation, expiry date management, and all relevant quality control requirements
- Perform regular product sampling and testing across GMG’s food product portfolio — confirming ongoing compliance with food safety specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements at every stage of the distribution chain
- Support the preparation and facilitation of external audits conducted by regulatory bodies, certification organisations, and third-party food safety auditors — ensuring GMG’s DC is fully prepared, fully compliant, and able to demonstrate its quality management system maturity at any time
Food Safety Training & Awareness
- Organise and deliver food safety training and hygiene awareness programmes for all food handlers across the Distribution Centre — implementing the approved annual training plan to ensure every team member understands and actively applies correct food safety practices in their daily work
- Develop and maintain effective food safety training materials — including SOPs, visual aids, toolbox talk content, and training records — ensuring all training documentation is current, accurate, and accessible for internal and external audit review
- Assess training effectiveness through follow-up observation and knowledge checks — identifying skill or awareness gaps and adapting training content to address areas where food safety compliance behaviours need reinforcement across the DC workforce
- Provide continuous feedback, coaching, and practical guidance to food handlers, warehouse supervisors, and logistics team members — building a genuine, proactive food safety culture across GMG’s Sharjah Distribution Centre
Non-Conformance Investigation & CAPA Management
- Investigate customer complaints related to product quality or food safety — conducting thorough root cause analysis, documenting findings accurately, and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve the underlying cause and prevent recurrence
- Identify and manage food safety and quality non-conformances identified during DC inspections — initiating product holds, escalating critical issues to management, and coordinating corrective actions across warehouse and logistics teams
- Implement and follow up corrective action measures — verifying through evidence-based review that all CAPA have been completed effectively and are producing the intended improvements in food safety compliance and product quality across the DC
- Provide continuous improvement recommendations to warehouse, logistics, and management teams — identifying systemic food safety and quality gaps and proposing practical, operationally viable solutions that enhance DC food safety performance
Quality Documentation & Records Management
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and fully traceable records of all DC inspections, product testing results, food safety audits, corrective actions, and quality control reports — ensuring complete documentation integrity and zero-backlog record management
- Ensure all quality control documentation is continuously updated and fully aligned with applicable regulatory requirements, HACCP plans, FSSC 22000 standards, and GMG’s internal quality management system requirements
- Prepare detailed quality control reports and food safety performance summaries for DC management — providing clear, data-driven insights that support decision-making and continuous improvement across the logistics quality function
- Ensure full traceability of all food product movements through the DC — maintaining accurate inbound, storage, and dispatch records that support product recall readiness and regulatory compliance at all times
Cross-Functional Collaboration — Logistics & Warehouse Integration
- Foster strong, productive collaboration with warehouse, logistics, and central planning teams — ensuring quality control processes are seamlessly integrated into overall Distribution Centre operations without creating unnecessary operational friction
- Act as the primary quality and food safety liaison between the QC function and the logistics and warehouse teams — communicating compliance requirements, inspection findings, and improvement recommendations clearly and constructively across departments
