Key Responsibilities

EMEA Procurement & Supply Chain Operations

  • Take full responsibility for operational and strategic procurement processes across the EMEA region — from initial inquiry and purchase order management through goods receipt and supplier payment coordination
  • Monitor and ensure material availability at all times — serving as the central interface in bottleneck situations involving production disruptions, delivery time deviations, and supply chain exceptions
  • Initiate and coordinate corrective measures in the event of delivery delays — managing escalations effectively within Materion’s quality management framework to protect production and customer delivery commitments
  • Coordinate and optimize production and delivery dates with suppliers and internal teams — taking inventory management goals and customer commitments into account in every scheduling decision

Supplier Management & Customer Audits

  • Create and continuously develop procedural instructions for supply chain and procurement processes — documenting best practices and maintaining compliance standards across the EMEA supplier network
  • Conduct customer and supplier audits within the framework of Materion’s supplier management programme — evaluating performance, identifying risks, and supporting continuous improvement with key supply partners
  • Represent the supply chain function professionally in projects, internal and external meetings, and during customer visits — communicating supply chain status, risks, and solutions with clarity and confidence
  • Clarify the feasibility of New Business Opportunities (NBOs) with Materion’s Research & Development department and the manufacturing plants in the USA — providing supply chain input to commercial growth decisions

Forecast Management & Stakeholder Communication

  • Lead, document, and analyze internal and external forecast meetings — ensuring demand and supply signals are accurately captured, communicated, and acted upon across the EMEA supply chain
  • Provide timely and accurate supply chain intelligence to production, logistics, and commercial teams — enabling data-driven planning decisions that minimize risk and optimize inventory levels
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with suppliers, customers, and internal Materion colleagues across multiple functions and geographies — bridging language and cultural gaps with fluent German and English
  • Support other Materion locations across the EMEA network as required — bringing supply chain expertise and a collaborative team approach to cross-site coordination and problem-solving

Process Digitalization & Continuous Improvement

  • Conceptualize and implement holistic business process optimizations for digitalization and automation across planning, purchasing, and logistics — identifying manual process gaps and replacing them with scalable, technology-enabled solutions
  • Drive the further development, coordination, and continuous improvement of existing supply chain processes across the entire value chain — contributing a proactive, solution-oriented approach to every process challenge
  • Use SAP and other digital tools effectively to improve supply chain visibility, data accuracy, and operational efficiency across Materion’s EMEA procurement and logistics activities
  • Manage import and export compliance considerations within supply chain operations — ensuring all cross-border movements meet applicable regulatory and customs requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Completed vocational training as an industrial clerk (Industriekaufmann/-frau), freight forwarding and logistics services clerk (Kaufmann/-frau für Spedition und Logistikdienstleistung), or a comparable qualification with strong technical understanding and high numerical affinity
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher academic qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is also a strong foundation for this role
