Position Overview
The Technical Field Representative I (Agriculture) at Suterra Fresno is an entry-level outdoor field role focused on deploying innovative pheromone pest management products, supporting field trials, collecting and submitting field data, and building strong grower relationships across California. You will execute seasonal product deployments, install traps and dispensers, coordinate field labor, maintain accurate records, and represent Suterra professionally during grower visits. Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Product Deployment
- Execute seasonal product deployment activities safely, accurately, and in accordance with Suterra’s established procedures across California grower territories
- Install Suterra pheromone products — dispensers, traps, and associated materials — correctly at designated field locations throughout the growing season
- Coordinate and assist temporary field labor during deployment activities, ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule
- Maintain accurate deployment records, product counts, and service documentation to support operational and client reporting requirements
- Utilise mobile applications, GPS, and field mapping software to document all field activities and location data accurately
- Support seasonal logistics and inventory management to ensure timely product availability across assigned territories
Technical Field Trial Support
- Assist with field trial setup and maintenance — installing traps, dispensers, and other trial materials at designated research locations
- Monitor field trials by collecting trap counts, field observations, and all other required data according to established research protocols
- Collect samples accurately and according to defined sampling protocols to support Suterra’s technical field research program
- Submit accurate, timely field observations and data to the Technical Field Team for analysis and reporting
- Maintain trial locations and field equipment in good condition throughout the entire growing season
Customer Service & Grower Relationship Management
- Build and maintain positive, trusting working relationships with growers, distributors, and agricultural partners across the California territory
- Respond promptly and professionally to routine customer questions regarding Suterra product installation, usage, and field service
- Escalate technical concerns or product performance issues to the appropriate team members in a timely and accurate manner
- Represent Suterra professionally and with genuine enthusiasm during all customer visits, grower meetings, and industry events
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in technical training sessions and ongoing professional development programs provided by Suterra
- Support the onboarding and training of seasonal field employees as needed throughout the deployment season
- Share ideas and observations for improving field operations, product installation efficiency, and customer service outcomes
- Collaborate effectively with Sales, Technical Field, Customer Care, and Operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in agriculture, field operations, crop production, customer service, or a related field — OR an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Strong communication and customer service skills — essential for building productive grower relationships across California
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record — extensive travel throughout California is required
- High school diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Biology, or Environmental Science strongly preferred
- Internship or prior field experience in agriculture, agricultural research, or specialty crop production
- Experience with California specialty crops — tree nuts, citrus, grapes, or similar high-value crops
- Familiarity with mobile field applications, GPS technology, or field mapping software
- Professional fluency in both English and Spanish — strongly preferred for serving California’s diverse agricultural community
