Department: Grain Origination & Regenerative Agriculture

Primary Focus: Grower enrollment, program education, record management

Scope: Assigned geographic territory across Wisconsin farms

Mission: Building a strong network of regenerative growers for low-carbon corn

Regenerative Ag Associate Position Overview

The Regenerative Ag Associate position at Aztalan Bio is a full-time, field-based role that puts you at the center of the company’s regenerative agriculture effort. Working from a geographic territory, you’ll build and maintain relationships with farmers who might join or already take part in the company’s low-carbon corn programs. Much of the work happens on the road, with farm visits making up roughly 40 to 60 percent of your time, and the rest spent in the office keeping records and coordinating with colleagues. Prospecting is a big part of the job. You’ll reach growers through cold outreach, referrals, and farm visits, then follow up consistently until they’re ready to enroll. Once a farmer is interested, you’ll explain the requirements of 45Z-related programs, the regenerative practices that qualify, the records that need to be kept, and the potential value of taking part. You’ll serve as the main point of contact between participating farmers, third-party verifiers, and the company, from first contact through annual program renewal. Good records matter, so you’ll maintain accurate customer relationship management data covering each grower’s contacts, acres, practices, enrollment status, documents, expected bushels, and follow-up dates. You’ll also work with the company’s grain buyers to keep account roles clear, transition contracting needs smoothly, and hit enrollment goals for farmers, acres, and low-carbon corn bushels. Along the way, you’ll help maintain a database of competitor bids, capacities, and shipping hours, as well as a regional corn supply and demand estimate.

As Regenerative Ag Associate, you’ll develop expertise in regenerative agriculture, carbon program requirements, and grower relationship management, while building the customer-facing and negotiation skills that carry over well into agribusiness leadership. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or a related field, or brings an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with one to three years of sales, business development, account management, or other customer-facing work. Self-motivation, organization, persistence, and comfort with cold prospecting and independent territory management are key, as is strong communication and negotiation ability. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems will help you keep up with the company’s tools. A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for farm visits are required, and the role involves standing, walking, occasional lifting, and in some cases entering a plant environment with noise and process chemicals. For people who want to combine farming, data, and relationships in one role, this position offers a meaningful place in Wisconsin’s growing low-carbon agriculture sector.

Why This Role Matters: As Regenerative Ag Associate at Aztalan Bio, you help farmers access regenerative and low-carbon programs, explain complex carbon program rules in plain language, serve as the key link between growers and verifiers, build a territory of enrolled farms, work across grain origination and buying teams, and develop a career in agricultural business and sustainability in the Midwest.
