GMG (Gulf Marketing Group), a leading diversified conglomerate, is seeking an experienced Processing Team Leader to join the Food Division within the Everyday Goods business unit. Position Overview – Processing Team Leader
The Processing Team Leader serves as a key supervisory position within GMG’s Food division, responsible for overseeing daily production activities and ensuring efficient workflow throughout the processing line. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the incumbent provides essential guidance, coordination, and leadership for processing staff to achieve consistent high-quality output while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and operational efficiency standards.
This pivotal role combines hands-on production supervision with team leadership responsibilities, requiring a professional who can effectively manage workflows, maintain quality standards, foster cooperative team environments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all processing operations.
Key Responsibilities & Core Functions
- Workflow Coordination and Task Management: Coordinate comprehensive workflow across processing lines, strategically assign tasks to team members based on skills and capacity, and continuously monitor performance metrics to ensure strict adherence to GMG’s established quality and safety standards
- SOP Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed throughout processing operations, verify team members thoroughly understand GMG’s quality and safety guidelines, and maintain compliance with food safety regulations
- Team Supervision and Production Management: Supervise and actively support the processing team through hands-on leadership, ensuring production activities run smoothly without interruptions, and consistently meet or exceed daily production targets and quality benchmarks
- Production Line Monitoring: Continuously monitor processing lines for operational efficiency, promptly address any operational disruptions or bottlenecks, implement quick solutions to maintain productivity levels, and minimize costly downtime
- Quality Control and Inspection: Perform comprehensive quality checks throughout all processing stages, identify any deviations from product specifications, conduct root cause analysis, and collaborate closely with Production Supervisor to resolve quality issues systematically
- Equipment Management and Maintenance: Manage proper equipment usage across processing lines, monitor equipment performance, promptly report maintenance needs to appropriate departments, and ensure safe operation practices are consistently followed by all team members
- Production Metrics and Reporting: Track and document daily production metrics including output volumes, efficiency rates, quality indicators, and downtime incidents; communicate comprehensive updates and performance reports to Production Supervisor regularly
- Record Keeping and Communication: Maintain accurate production records, communicate daily targets clearly to team members, and troubleshoot minor equipment issues in close collaboration with maintenance team before escalating major concerns
- Process Improvement Leadership: Play key role in continuous process improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to workflow efficiency, identifying waste reduction opportunities, recommending resource optimization strategies, and addressing operational challenges with Production Manager
- Staff Training and Development: Train new staff members on standard operating procedures, provide hands-on assistance in proper equipment handling techniques, ensure sanitation and hygiene practices are rigorously followed on production floor, and mentor team members for skill development
- Safety Compliance and Incident Reporting: Enforce strict compliance with safety regulations, workplace safety protocols, and food safety standards; prepare detailed reports on production efficiency, safety incidents, quality issues, and ensure all critical data is accurately communicated to management
Required Qualifications & Educational Background
- Industry Experience (Mandatory): Minimum 2 to 3 years of proven professional experience specifically in food processing operations, production supervision, or related manufacturing roles within food industry
- Educational Credentials (Required): Diploma in Production Management, Food Production, Industrial Management, Manufacturing Technology, or a closely related field from a recognized institution
- Professional Certification (Mandatory): Valid certification in Food Safety and Quality Control from an accredited training provider, demonstrating knowledge of food safety principles, quality management, and regulatory compliance
- Food Processing Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of food processing techniques, production workflows, equipment operations, and manufacturing best practices in food industry
- Quality Systems Experience: Familiarity with quality management systems, food safety standards (HACCP, GMP), and quality control procedures in food manufacturing environments
