Position Overview – Quality Control Officer
The Quality Control Officer (QC) will play a vital role in ensuring product quality, food safety compliance, and adherence to international standards throughout food manufacturing operations. This hands-on position requires working directly on production floors and in cold storage environments, conducting quality inspections, monitoring production processes, and maintaining comprehensive quality control documentation.
This is an on-site operational role requiring physical presence in production facilities, flexibility for shift work, and availability for weekend duties as needed. The ideal candidate combines technical food science knowledge with practical quality control experience in food manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities & Core Functions
- Production Quality Monitoring: Conduct continuous quality inspections on production floors, monitoring food manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality, safety parameters, and specification compliance throughout all production stages
- Raw Material Inspection: Perform comprehensive quality checks on incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials, verifying they meet established specifications and quality standards before approval for production use
- In-Process Quality Control: Monitor in-process production activities, conduct sampling procedures, perform quality tests, and verify critical control points are maintained throughout manufacturing operations
- Finished Product Evaluation: Conduct detailed inspections of finished food products including sensory evaluation, physical testing, packaging integrity checks, and labeling accuracy verification before release for distribution
- Cold Storage Area Management: Work in cold storage and refrigerated areas conducting temperature monitoring, storage condition verification, stock rotation checks, and quality assessments of chilled and frozen products
- HACCP Monitoring: Support HACCP system implementation by monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs), recording monitoring data, verifying control measures, and reporting deviations requiring corrective action
- GMP Compliance Verification: Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are followed including personnel hygiene, facility cleanliness, equipment sanitation, and operational procedures throughout production areas
- FSSC 22000 System Support: Assist in maintaining Food Safety System Certification 22000 requirements including prerequisite programs, quality documentation, and compliance activities
- Quality Documentation: Maintain accurate quality control records, inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports, and compliance documentation for regulatory audits and management reviews
- Non-Conformance Reporting: Identify quality deviations, document non-conformances, initiate corrective action procedures, and follow up on resolution of quality issues
- Quality Testing and Analysis: Perform basic quality tests including pH measurements, temperature checks, moisture content, weight verification, and other quality parameters as per standard procedures
- Shift Coverage and Flexibility: Work assigned shifts including day, evening, or night shifts as required, and be available for weekend work to ensure continuous quality coverage during production operations
Required Qualifications & Educational Background
- Academic Credentials: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Nutrition, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or closely related field from recognized institution
- Industry Experience (Essential): Proven 1 to 3 years of professional experience in quality control or quality assurance roles specifically within food manufacturing, food processing, or food production environments
- Food Manufacturing Knowledge: Hands-on experience working in food production facilities, understanding manufacturing processes, quality requirements, and food safety challenges in industrial food operations
- HACCP Knowledge (Required): Strong understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles, critical control point monitoring, food safety hazards, and HACCP documentation requirements
- GMP Understanding (Required): Comprehensive knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including hygiene standards, sanitation procedures, facility requirements, and operational controls in food manufacturing
- FSSC 22000 Familiarity (Required): Working knowledge of Food Safety System Certification 22000 framework, ISO 22000 principles, and food safety management system requirements
- UAE Residency (Mandatory): Candidate must be currently available in the United Arab Emirates with valid residence visa or ready to join immediately without relocation delays
- Language Skills (Preferred): Tagalog language proficiency is highly preferred to communicate effectively with Filipino production staff and team members

- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of food manufacturing equipment, production processes, quality testing methods, and food safety principles
- Documentation Skills: Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare clear inspection reports, and document findings in compliance with quality system requirements
- Communication Abilities: Effective communication skills in English and preferably Tagalog for coordinating with production teams, supervisors, and quality management
- Physical Capability: Ability to work in production floor environments, cold storage areas, standing for extended periods, and performing physical inspections
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work various shifts including nights, early mornings, and weekends as required by production schedules
- Temperature Tolerance: Comfortable working in cold environments including chillers, freezers, and refrigerated storage areas for extended durations
- Problem-Solving: Capability to identify quality issues quickly, assess situations, and take appropriate actions or escalate concerns to management
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse, multicultural production teams in fast-paced manufacturing environments
Work Environment & Job Conditions
⚠️ Important Work Environment Details:
- On-Site Role: This is an operational position requiring physical presence on production floors – not a remote or office-based role
- Production Floor Work: Daily work in active food manufacturing areas with machinery, production lines, and operational activities
- Cold Area Exposure: Regular work in refrigerated areas, cold storage rooms, chillers, and freezer environments with temperatures below 5°C
- Shift Duties: Rotating shift work may be required including day shifts, evening shifts, night shifts, and early morning starts
- Weekend Work: Availability for weekend shifts as needed based on production schedules and business requirements
- Protective Equipment: Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including hairnets, coats, gloves, boots, and safety gear
- Physical Demands: Standing for long periods, walking throughout facilities, climbing stairs, and performing inspections in various locations
