A leading fish processing company in Duqm, Sultanate of Oman, is seeking an experienced Factory Manager to oversee comprehensive operations of Fish Meal, Fish Oil, and Freezing Units. Position Overview – Factory Manager

The Factory Manager serves as the senior operational leader responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of fish processing plant operations including Fish Meal production, Fish Oil extraction, and Freezing operations. Reporting directly to the CEO/Chairman, this critical position requires ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining strict quality compliance, controlling operational costs, enforcing safety protocols, and adhering to statutory requirements across all manufacturing units.

This executive-level role combines strategic planning with hands-on operational management, requiring a seasoned professional who can optimize production efficiency, manage diverse teams, maintain export quality standards, and drive continuous improvement across complex fish processing operations in Oman’s expanding fisheries industry.

Key Responsibilities & Core Functions

Production & Operations Management:

  • Plan and supervise comprehensive daily operations of Fish Meal production unit, Fish Oil extraction facilities, and Freezing operations ensuring seamless coordination between all processing units
  • Ensure production targets are consistently achieved, production schedules are maintained, and operational deadlines are met without compromising quality or safety standards
  • Optimize strategic utilization of raw fish materials, manpower resources, and processing machinery to maximize efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce operational costs
  • Monitor critical production metrics including yield percentages, wastage rates, process efficiency indicators, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement

Quality & Compliance Assurance:

  • Ensure fish meal, fish oil, and frozen product quality consistently meets international export standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements for food safety and quality
  • Implement and rigorously monitor comprehensive quality control procedures, hygiene practices, sanitation protocols, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout all processing operations
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations, environmental protection laws, factory operational regulations, and Omani statutory requirements including Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries standards

Maintenance & Utilities Management:

  • Oversee comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and manage breakdown maintenance of all plant machinery including fish meal processing equipment, oil extraction systems, freezing units, and auxiliary machinery
  • Control and optimize utilities management including seawater intake systems, electrical power consumption, steam generation facilities, fuel utilization, and compressed air systems
  • Monitor sewage collection systems, effluent treatment processes, and wastewater discharge operations ensuring compliance with environmental norms and sustainability standards

Manpower Management & Development:

  • Manage comprehensive human resources including supervisors, machine operators, technicians, quality control staff, and support personnel across all shifts and processing units
  • Plan effective shift schedules, track attendance records, manage overtime requirements, and monitor workforce productivity to ensure optimal staffing levels
  • Provide systematic training programs for skill development, enforce workplace discipline, implement safety practices, and foster productive work culture across all departments

Health, Safety & Environmental Management:

  • Ensure safe working conditions throughout factory premises, mandate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain hazard-free work environments
  • Implement comprehensive safety procedures, conduct regular safety drills, maintain emergency preparedness protocols, and ensure first aid facilities are available
  • Maintain stringent environmental controls, manage waste disposal systems, monitor effluent handling processes, and ensure sustainable environmental practices

Reporting & Coordination:

  • Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, utility consumption reports, maintenance logs, and operational performance reports for management review
  • Coordinate effectively with procurement department for raw material supply, maintenance team for equipment upkeep, QA/QC for quality standards, and accounts department for cost control
  • Report comprehensive operational performance, production metrics, quality indicators, and strategic recommendations directly to CEO/Chairman

Additional Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation of new projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, process upgrades, and technology improvements to enhance operational capabilities
  • Liaise professionally with government authorities, regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and external inspectors for permits, approvals, inspections, and statutory compliance
  • Ensure effective communication across departments, facilitate cross-functional coordination, and maintain collaborative teamwork throughout organization
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits, international certifications (ISO, HACCP), regulatory inspections, and customer compliance requirements

Required Qualifications & Educational Background

  • Academic Credentials: Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food Processing), Fisheries Technology, Food Technology, Food Science, Marine Engineering, or closely related technical field from accredited institution
  • Industry Experience (Mandatory): Minimum 5 years of proven professional experience in Factory Operations management, preferably within fish processing, seafood manufacturing, food processing, or related industries
  • Fish Processing Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of fish meal production processes, fish oil extraction techniques, freezing operations, and integrated fish processing plant management
  • Production Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale manufacturing operations, production planning, quality control, maintenance management, and utilities optimization
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing supervisory teams, coordinating multiple departments, and leading operational improvements in manufacturing environments
