Position Overview

The Food Safety Auditor at SGS UAE plays a highly important technical and operational role within the organization’s food safety certification and inspection division. You will conduct timely and accurate onsite food safety audits for SGS clients across the UAE, train new auditors and back-office coordinators, review client management system requirements, verify compliance, prepare comprehensive audit files, and support KPI achievement across the Auditor role.  Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Food Safety Auditor role, optimizing resource efficiency during all audit execution activities
  • Provide technical and operational support to SGS clients by addressing their specific requirements and integrating them seamlessly into the audit coordination process
  • Report to the Operations Manager any deviations in job processing or execution, as well as any issues that may impact the organization at administrative, operational, or financial levels

Audit Execution & Technical Responsibilities

  • Conduct timely, accurate, and comprehensive onsite food safety audits in accordance with SGS standards, client requirements, and applicable certification schemes
  • Prepare detailed and complete audit files documenting all audit findings, evidence, non-conformances, and recommendations for client corrective actions
  • Verify clients’ management system requirements and ensure full compliance with applicable food safety standards across all inspected operations
  • Perform inspections and damage surveys as required by client mandates and SGS operational protocols
  • Review audit reports and sample analysis reports for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with SGS quality standards before final submission
  • Act as Deputy Technical In-Charge for applicable certification schemes, providing technical leadership and decision support when required

Training, Development & Team Coordination

  • Train new auditors and back-office coordinators — assess trainee performance and qualify them for independent audit execution within SGS standards
  • Review new client requirements and design and deliver targeted training sessions to auditors to ensure they are prepared for client-specific audit scopes
  • Communicate SGS office policies and updated requirements clearly to auditors, while actively fostering strong teamwork between auditors and back-office coordinators
  • Consolidate auditors’ inputs and maintain the Profiler database, ensuring all relevant information is accurately shared with the Technical Manager for evaluation

Operational & HSE Responsibilities

  • Monitor business trends and support budget forecasting activities to assist the Operations Manager in planning and resource allocation
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for client claims and complaints related to audit scheduling and execution, and implement preventive actions
  • Promote and actively monitor effective risk management practices across all audit and operational activities within SGS UAE
  • Maintain and update HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures, ensuring their implementation in all daily operational activities
  • Halt any activity deemed unsafe and intervene decisively in case of unsafe acts or conditions observed during audit field visits or office operations

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent professional qualification in Food Science, Quality Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Additional professional certifications in food safety auditing, ISO food safety management systems, or related TIC industry qualifications are a strong advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of direct work-related experience as a food safety auditor in a recognized certification body, food manufacturing, or inspection organization
  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing procedures, audit classification, findings assessment, and audit report preparation
  • Experience in auditing services within the TIC industry or food regulatory framework is a distinct professional advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client audit programs simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and professional quality

Technical Skills & Professional Competencies

  • Deep understanding of food safety management systems, certification schemes, and regulatory compliance frameworks applicable in the UAE and GCC
  • Strong ability to conduct root cause analysis, prepare comprehensive audit reports, and communicate findings clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client management, auditor training, and cross-functional SGS team collaboration
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a dynamic field audit environment while maintaining the highest standards of audit integrity and accuracy
