Position Overview
This Supply Chain & Quality Consultant role at Scalian Germany (Tagueri) in Salzgitter is a senior, multi-disciplinary consulting position for a professional who combines strong aerospace or automotive industry experience with proven expertise in supplier quality management, Lean methodologies, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement. You will take direct responsibility for monitoring supplier performance against customer requirements and industry standards, establishing and following IPCA frameworks, conducting product and process qualifications, and implementing curative and preventive quality management measures that keep complex supply chains running reliably. You will also set and achieve quality targets, develop and monitor project-related KPIs, train and integrate suppliers into customer processes, and communicate directly with project teams, stakeholders, and customers — making this a truly high-impact role for an experienced supply chain and quality specialist in Germany’s industrial consulting sector.
Why This Role Matters: As Supply Chain & Quality Consultant at Scalian Germany, your expertise directly ensures that the supply chains of aerospace and automotive clients remain compliant, resilient, and competitive. Your supplier qualifications prevent quality failures before they occur. Your IPCA implementation provides structural quality assurance at process level. Your Lean coaching builds lasting supplier capability. And your KPI monitoring gives clients the real-time visibility they need to make quality decisions confidently. In industries where a single supply chain failure can have enormous downstream consequences, your consulting work is essential, valued, and genuinely consequential.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Performance Monitoring & Evaluation
- Monitor and systematically evaluate supplier performance against customer requirements and aerospace and automotive industry standards — providing structured, data-driven assessments that support quality-critical supply chain decisions.
- Identify supplier performance gaps, quality risks, and compliance deviations — developing targeted improvement plans and working directly with suppliers to drive measurable performance recovery.
- Establish, monitor, and report on project-related KPIs covering quality performance, efficiency, and time management — providing management and customers with clear, actionable supply chain visibility.
- Propose and implement practical methods and tools that reduce supply chain costs and cycle times — bringing Lean thinking and industry best practice to every supplier engagement and quality review.
Product & Process Qualification
- Conduct comprehensive product and process qualification activities at supplier sites — validating that manufacturing processes, quality controls, and inspection capabilities meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Apply knowledge of the First Article Inspection (FAI/FAIR) process — planning, coordinating, and evaluating first article inspections in accordance with aerospace and automotive industry standards.
- Manage the transfer of manufacturing activities from one supplier to another — ensuring quality continuity, process documentation integrity, and minimal supply disruption during transition activities.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, internal stakeholders, and customers throughout qualification and transfer activities — communicating progress, risks, and outcomes clearly and professionally in both German and English.
IPCA Implementation & Quality Management
- Establish and rigorously follow the Industrial Process Control Assessment (IPCA) framework — embedding structured process quality control across the supplier base in alignment with customer and industry requirements.
- Implement both curative and preventive quality management measures — addressing immediate supplier quality failures while building systematic prevention programmes that protect supply chain continuity long-term.
- Set clear quality targets aligned with customer expectations and project objectives — monitoring progress, tracking outcomes, and adjusting strategies as needed to consistently achieve defined quality goals.
- Lead and support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives at supplier level — coaching suppliers through structured problem-solving, CAPA development, and quality system maturity improvement.
Lean Methodology & Continuous Improvement
- Apply strong Lean methodology knowledge and continuous improvement tools — coaching suppliers in Lean principles, waste elimination, process standardisation, and operational efficiency improvement.
- Identify and implement Lean-based solutions that reduce supply chain costs, improve cycle times, and strengthen quality system robustness across the supplier network.
- Support the development and deployment of quality management systems at supplier sites — providing expert guidance, training, and hands-on coaching that builds lasting internal capability.
- Contribute to Scalian Germany’s continuous improvement culture — sharing knowledge, proposing new methodologies, and actively participating in internal consulting capability development initiatives.
Supplier Training & Stakeholder Communication
- Train and coach suppliers on customer processes, quality requirements, and industry standards — building their capability to meet and consistently sustain the required performance levels.
- Integrate suppliers effectively into customer processes — ensuring clear communication, mutual understanding of requirements, and productive working relationships that support long-term supply chain performance.
- Communicate directly, confidently, and professionally with project teams, internal and external stakeholders, and customers in both German and English — adapting communication style and content to each audience.
- Present findings, recommendations, and project status updates convincingly to senior stakeholders — using a structured, data-driven presentation style that builds trust and supports informed decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Completed university degree in Engineering (Ingenieurwesen), Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, or a comparable technical qualification — the primary educational requirement for this consulting role.
- Additional certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, quality management (e.g. DGQ, VDA, AS9100), or supply chain management are a valued and competitive advantage for shortlisting.
Experience Requirements
- Several years of practical professional experience in an industrial environment — preferably within the aerospace industry or automotive sector — demonstrating hands-on supply chain or quality management expertise.
- Proven experience with supply chain management and/or quality management systems — including IPCA, First Article Inspection processes, and supplier transfer management activities.
- Strong Lean methodology knowledge and demonstrated experience coaching suppliers in continuous improvement, process control, and waste reduction within industrial supply chain contexts.
- Willingness to undertake regular business travel — this role involves regular client site and supplier visits as an integral part of the consulting service delivery model.
