Position Overview

This Sales Associate / Soils Sales Representative role at Laurel Valley Farms in Landenberg, PA is a full-time, hybrid sales and account management position responsible for supporting the Laurel Valley Soils division’s revenue growth across wholesale, business-to-business bulk sales. Key Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management & Account Growth

  • Build, manage, and actively grow relationships with both new and existing customers — including contractors, landscapers, garden centers, construction firms, and green infrastructure project owners across the Mid-Atlantic region
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day sales and account management contact for Laurel Valley Soils customers — providing responsive, professional, and reliable service that builds long-term loyalty and repeat business
  • Conduct regular customer visits to job sites and customer locations — maintaining the face-to-face relationship quality that wholesale bulk soil and compost sales demand from a trusted supplier partner
  • Track all customer interactions, account status, sales opportunities, and project progress accurately in the CRM — providing the Sales Manager with clear, real-time visibility into pipeline and account health

New Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities across landscaping, construction, garden center, agricultural, and green infrastructure markets — proactively opening accounts that expand Laurel Valley Soils’ customer base and geographic reach
  • Monitor bid opportunities, project leads, and customer requests across the Mid-Atlantic market — ensuring no qualified opportunity goes unaddressed and that Laurel Valley Soils is consistently positioned to win new business
  • Help diversify product opportunities and actively develop new market channels for the Laurel Valley Soils product range — contributing entrepreneurially to the division’s growth strategy
  • Build and leverage knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic landscaping, construction, garden center, and green infrastructure markets to identify target customer segments and competitive advantages for Laurel Valley Soils

Quoting, Estimating & Project Support

  • Prepare and support accurate, competitive quotes, product recommendations, estimates, and project submittals for wholesale customers — ensuring every proposal reflects both the customer’s project requirements and Laurel Valley Soils’ commercial objectives
  • Support product testing, documentation, and submittal processes for construction and green infrastructure project customers who require technical product verification and compliance documentation
  • Follow up proactively on outstanding quotes and project conversion opportunities — moving prospective customers through the sales process from inquiry to confirmed order with professional persistence
  • Coordinate closely with the internal operations, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure orders are executed accurately, delivered on time, and communicated clearly to the customer throughout the process

CRM Management & Sales Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and current records of all sales activity, customer information, opportunities, project status, and account notes in the CRM system — ensuring the Sales Manager has the data needed for effective forecasting and pipeline management
  • Track and report on sales performance against targets — identifying gaps, opportunities, and trends that can inform sales strategy adjustments and resource prioritization across the Soils division
  • Provide regular sales activity updates and market intelligence to the Sales Manager — contributing field insights that help shape Laurel Valley Soils’ product offering, pricing, and market positioning decisions
  • Collaborate constructively and proactively with the Sales Manager and operations team — ensuring responsive communication, shared accountability, and reliable execution across every customer interaction

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of direct sales, account management, or business development experience — with demonstrated ability to build customer relationships, manage accounts, and close business consistently
  • Strong customer relationship skills and the professional discipline to follow through on commitments, respond promptly to inquiries, and build the kind of trust that generates repeat and referral business
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills — managing multiple accounts, quotes, projects, and deadlines simultaneously without dropping the ball
