Position Overview
The Associate Structural Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing structural engineering procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to structural and general engineering. Key Responsibilities
Design Engineering & Calculations
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures
- Use specifications when performing design calculations
Supervised Analysis & Support
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
- Perform computer analyses of structures designed by others with guidance from Senior and PPL engineers
- Perform engineering checks of drafting
- Provide engineering support as required
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements
- Prepare MTOs of primary structures under supervision
- Assist in the preparation of subcontract documents
- Review vendor data with guidance from colleagues
Communication & Time Management
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
- Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
Flexibility & Continuous Learning
- Show flexibility for reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards
- Support colleague replacement during illness and holidays, and assist with heavy workloads across projects

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering
- Accredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions
Experience Requirements
- 0-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society as applicable
Essential Skills
- Working knowledge of English, both oral and written
- Familiar with the use of codes and standards
- Eager to learn design techniques and analysis methods
